Belgian Emma Plasschaert wins World Championship 2021 in the Olympic Class

The ILCA 6 World Championship has ended today in the waters of Oman, with a tenth place for the Catalan Cristina Pujol, only Spanish representative at the event.

After a week in which conditions have marked the pattern of this world, including a blank day, two new tests closed the program, preceded by a postponement waiting for the wind force to give the first exit.

The Spanish Cristina Pujol arrived with great expectations, at a saving distance from the podium posts and in the hope that the conditions would be favourable... a 31 and 22 are certainly of the worst results of the national representative, which in the eleven sleeves has accumulated three posts of Top5 and four of Top20: 4- (38) -18-14,8-4-1-16-13-24- (31) -22.

The conditions have not only played against Pujol today... the Danish Anne- Marie Rindom, Olympic gold and who arrived as leader of this day, has ended fourth, while the world scepter has been for the Belgian Emma Plasschaert, fourth in the Tokyo Games. Second was Polish Agata Barwinska, the current champion of Europe, and third was Lithuanian Viktorija Andrulyte.

Cristina Pujol, the only Spanish representative in the ILCA 6 World Championship that is being held in Oman, reaches the final day in sixth position, twelve points from the podium, with three races scheduled to decide the final classification.

The world of Oman is being marked by wind conditions, with a first day blank and four in which organization and participants have had to be used to the maximum to meet the programme.

After the nine tests computed, Cristina Pujol has achieved a good position in the Top10, with a margin of 11 points on the seventh classified and the option of a second discard after tomorrow's races.

The best day for Spanish was last Saturday, when he added a fourth and a first place to his partials who took him to the fourth position of the general, dominated by the Danish Anne- Marie Rindom.
