The Afédito de Vigo Auditorium was the splendid framework that hosted on Saturday afternoon a historic Gala del Piragüismo Gallego, on this occasion in the framework of the Spanish nautical event, the Abanca Week that organized the Galician Federation of Piragüismo, the Maritime Club of Vigo and the Club of Oragüismo Olívico.

The moments of greatest expectation were no doubt lived when Teresa Portela, the only Spanish sportsmen who have already participated in six Olympic Games, received her award, accompanied by the Olympic medals: the Kangués Rodrigo Germade, the betanceiro Carlos Arévalo, the Paralympic Rianxeiro Adrián Mosquera, and the Olympic diploma Antía Jacen (who received her mother, because it was impossible to come to the Gala)... who were delivered to them by the Vigo conteliro Manel Fernández, José Ramón Lete Lasa, as the secretary of the new sport of the Spanish, José Javier Bagüa, and the Spanish President of the Spanish, José José José García, and the Palaítica.

Diego Viaño de Televisión de Galicia, was in charge of carrying the baton of the Gala, which was not easy, as a total of 73 awards were given... not from the overstatement of the jury presided over by Bea, but for the very important moment that this sport lives in Galicia: three Olympic medals, an Olympic diploma, fifteen medals in the world and so many others in Europe, speak for themselves.

The mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, despite having an inescapable commitment, did not want to miss the Gala... and it was he who opened the act, at the same time that at the end of his intervention he wanted to pose with the three Galician medallists.

The first award of the afternoon was for the Club Náutico Firrete de Pontedeume, as champion of the League Provinicio initial de La Coruña... which was followed by the other Lugo River winners, the Avian River-Castrelo de Miño ourensano and the Pontevedres Club Breogán de O Grove.

After them the champions of Kayak... starting with the Ferrolano Polo Copacabana, as absolute of Kayak Polo... for their part the clubs of Cambados and Vigo were made with the other championships of the specialty.

Closing the European medalists... with another long list of winners.

In the mention section, Xacobeo carried the most uncatacaced as a sponsor, a prize received by Nava Castro, director of the Galician tourism agency, as well as Coca Cola and Murimar. In the media section were Marca and Faro, those distinguished on this occasion, while they completed several recognitions of this group: the Lugo Fluvial, the City of Pontevedra or the O Barco Fluvial.

In the final line, the work of Nerea Alonso as a Galician arbitrator, Miguel Angel Villanueva, coach of the City of Pontevedra, Daniel Brage, prepared by Teresa Portela or Padín, who is of several Olympic, was recognized. The long list was completed by youth medalists in world and European... and the numerous family photo. A Gala to not forget, for the many successes of our Pyragüists... and of great purpose!
