Spectacular start of the world of kitefoil in Gran Canaria before Paris 2024
An unbeatable day on the Grancan beach of Las Burras, with rachas of between 18 and 25 knots in a northeastern direction and little wave, allowing the riders achieve speeds of up to 45 km per hour, which has offered a spectacular start to the Great Canaria Kitefoil World Series, the first world to take place on the island and the last stop of the international circuit of the Kitefoil World Series 2021.
During this first day of competition, the French, Axel Mazella, arrived with strength on the island of Gran Canaria after losing the first place in the Kitefoil World Series Fuerteventura in front of the Singaporean Maximilian Maeder; however, this time it has been Mazella who has won 4 first places in the last 4 of the 5 sleeves that have been played on Wednesday in Las Burras, the municipal term of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
He was closely followed by the British Connor Bainbridge in second place and the Russian Denis Taradin, who also held the title of the male category champion of the entire circuit of the Kitefoil World Series 2021. However, Mazella has been able to maintain the first position in the general classification of the international circuit, as noted by the score obtained at the previous stops in Gizzeria (Italy), San Traunsee (Austria) and Cagliari (Italy) and Fuerteventura (Spain).
The loss of Bainbridge was the profit of Denis Taradin, as the rider of the Russian Federation took his second position. With only 6 points of difference between Denis Taradin and Connor Bainbridge, the Russian is willing to give everything during this last competition of the Kitefoil World Series to take second place in the general classification of the international circuit.
But France not only leads the male category of the island circuit and all the Kitefoil World Series 2021, but also dominates the female category, and it has been shown by Poema Newland from the Kitefoil World Series that took place on the beaches of Jandia from November 23 to 27. The second place in Gran Canaria is also occupied by another French, Lauriane Nolot, who also closely follows Newland in the general classification of the world series. The third post is currently held by the Austrian, Alina Kornelli.
The Kitefoil World Series this year has 5 stops in 3 different countries, the Canary Islands being the place that will host the only competitions in Spanish territory: Gizzeria (Italy), San Traunsee (Austria) and Cagliari (Italy), Fuerteventura (Spain) and Gran Canaria (Spain), where the champions of the island circuit will be decided not only, but also of these world series. The general classification of the circuit is currently led by French Axel Mazella, followed by Russian Denis Taradin, and British Connor Bainbridge, who holds third place. France also leads the female category with Poema Newland at the head.
