The Vice President and Councillor of Universities, Equality, Culture and Sport, Pablo Zuloaga, has announced an investment of 1.2 million euros for the works of energy modernization and the conditioning of the facilities of the Centro especializado de Alto Erencia de sailing Príncipe Felipe, in Santander.

Zuloaga has noted that this funding, which is planned until 2023, corresponds to a grant for Cantabria from the European funds for the ecological transition of sports facilities, which will be fully allocated to the CEAR of sailing as the only high performance centre of the autonomous community.

He pointed out that his department was already working on the technical and administrative documents to bring to tender the drafting of the project, and said that these energy interventions were aimed at reducing the demand for primary energy by 30%.

As for the actions to be taken, the Vice-President has commented that they will focus on the renewal of the energy efficiency of the Centre, optimizing the use of its facilities by digitizing and improving accessibility. It is also planned to carry out the rehabilitation and conditioning of the administrative and residence spaces of athletes.

During the visit to the CEAR facilities, Zuloaga has put this centre to value, a reference for Olympic athletes at both the national and international levels.

This action at the CEAR is part of the Ecological Transition Plan for Sports Facilities, aimed at modernizing the network of centres in the autonomous communities through the project 'Energy Plan 2.0'.

The planned actions include the replacement of current energy with lower pollutant emissions and the renovation of equipment to achieve maximum energy performance of systems.
