Josele Doreeste has been proclaimed world champion class ILCA 7 category Grand Grand Master in the world championship that has concluded today in Barcelona.
The canary, regatist of the Nàutic Port d'Aro Club and Olympic gold in Seoul in Finn class in 1988, adds a new title in its wineries after completing an almost impeccable championship6 first and 5 seconds.
The rest of the Spanish fleet has been more than meritorious. The Malacitan Arturo Reina, regatist of the Estepona Nautical Club, and the Catalan Miquel Noguer, Olympic gold in Moscow 80 in Flying Dutchman class and regatist of the Nautic Masnou Club, are hung silver in ILCA 6 category Apprentice and Grand Master, respectively. The Catalan Jose María Van der Ploeg, Olympic gold in Barcelona 92 in Finn class and regatist of the Níutic Club El Balís, bronze in ILCA 7 category Grand Master; the Galician David González, of the Real Club Níutic of Barcelona, bronze in ILCA 6 category Apprentice; and the Catalan Olympic Monica Azón, of the Níutic Club d'Arenys, bronze and female champion in ILCA 6 category Master.

The sixth and penultimate day of the World ILCA Masters race in Barcelona has left us two new tests and three virtual champions in ILCA 6: the British Jon Emmett in Apprentice category and the American Bill Symes in Grand Master category and Peter Seidenberg in Legend category.
For the fourth day in a row, the 239 regatists have gone to the early water, about 8: 00, to try to ensure the holding of all the scheduled tests and, again, the strategy has worked. The north-west wind, although less intense than the last three days, has not been missed and has allowed to celebrate the two tests of the penultimate day of the championship. About 12: 00 all the regatists were on the ground.
In the absence of a day, the ILCA 7 have held ten of the 12 races of the championship. In ILCA 6, the Apprentices, the Grand Grand Masters and the Legends add up to eleven of the twelve tests and the Masters and Grand Masters, ten.
The Canary Josele Doreto, a regatist of the Club Nàutic Port d'Aro, is the second of the Grand Masters of ILCA 6 and will have to look after the third of the Grand Masters in ILCA 7 with seven points of advantage over the second classified; Miquel Noguer, regatist of the Club Nàutic Masnou, is the second of the Grand Masters of ILCA 6 and will have to be held in the second position of the Apprentice, by the Club of the Club Náutic, by the Club Nático, by Maria Van d'Aços, and by the Club of the Royal of the Club of Açáutizos, and by the Club of Barcelona.
In addition to Dorest, the other leaders in ILCA 7 are Belgian Wannes Van Laer, who will play the title with Polish Maciej Grabowski in Apprentice; American Ernesto Rodríguez, who has the title to play in Master; and also American Robert Hallawell in Grand Master.

The Swedish Stefan Eriksson regains the lead in front of the French Jean- Christophe Leydet in the Master category and the French Gilles Coadou has it all in the face to proclaim himself a champion ahead of Noguer in the Grand Master category.

After three grey days with unstable and little, or no, intensity, the fourth day of the World ILCA Masters has finally enjoyed a sunny day and a stable and intense wind, which has allowed to dispute the two tests scheduled under optimal conditions for the competition
Once again, thanks to the organization's success in changing the program, the 239 regatists have been early in order to complete the day without any delay. ILCA 6 has enjoyed a north-west wind of 12 knots on average with peaks up to 16. While ILCA 7 have had about 10 knots of average with peaks of 12. At 11: 15, the regatists returned to the ground.
Thus, after adding all categories 2 new tests, the ILCA 7 have held a total of six races. In ILCA 6, the Apprentices, the Grand Grand Masters and the Legends add up to seven, for the six of the Masters and Grand Masters.
In addition to the leadership of the canary Josele Doreste in ILCA 6 category Grand Grand Master, Catalan Miquel Noguer, Olympic gold in Moscow and regatist of the Níutic Masnou Club, joins the party leading the Grand Master of the ILCA 6.

At about 8: 00 in the morning, the 239 regatists have been in the water in a slight rain and with a more encouraging wind forecast than the first two days of competition
Finally, on the third day of the World ILCA Masters in Barcelona, all classes have completed the three scheduled tests.
Both the Alpha area (ILCA 6) and the Bravo area (ILCA 7) have enjoyed a north-west wind that has ranged between 5 and 8 knots for the first group and about 5 and 10 knots for the second group, allowing the three tests to be completed at 12: 30 hours.
All ILCA 7 have a total of four disputed tests. In ILCA 6, the Apprentices, the Grand Grand Masters and the Legends add up to five, for the four Masters and Grand Masters. It should be recalled that with the celebration of the fourth race the first discard of the competition has come into play.
The big news for the local fleet is Josele Dorete's leadership in ILCA 7 category Grand Grand Master. The canary, Olympic gold in Seoul and regatist of the CN Sant Feliu de Guíxols, with two first and two seconds, has a two-point margin over the British Tim Law, in second position.
The other leaders in ILCA 7 are Belgian Wannes Van Laer in Apprentice; American Ernesto Rodríguez in Master; and also American Robert Hallawell in Grand Master.
In ILCA 6, the British Jon Emmett, with four first, signs, for the moment, an impeccable performance in Apprentice; the Swedish Stefan Eriksson leads the Master category, tied to points, but with a better discard, with the regatist of the Nàutic d'Arenys Club of the Mónica Azón Sea; the French Gilles Coadou continues to lead with authority in Grand Master; the American Bill Symes continues to strengthen the lead based first in Grand Master; and the American Peter Seidenberg, first of the Legends.

2021-11-15: World Master Laser in Barcelona... with irregular wind and USA domain

The third day of the race is scheduled at nine in the morning with the idea of celebrating three new sleeves
Good choice for the two race fields established at the World ILCA Masters in Barcelona. The ILCA 6, Alpha Area, have completed a test with a north-east component wind ranging from 4 to 8 knots. While the conditions of the Bravo area, ILCA 7, have been softer and more unstable and no prova has been completed.
In this way, the classification of the ILCA 7 remains the same as in the inaugural day... being the leaders by category are Polish Maciej Grabowski in Apprentice; American Peter Hurley in Master; American also Robert Hallawell in Grand Master; and British Michael Hicks in Grand Master.
In ILCA 6, the Masters and Grand Masters have played their first test, and the Apprentices, Grand Grand Masters and Legends have joined the second.
The British Jon Emmett in Apprentice, the American Bill Symes in Grand Grand Master, and the Dutch Henk Wittenberg in Legend, have their leadership. Italian Alessio Marinelli and French Gilles Coadou, first class leaders, Master and Grand Master, respectively.

2021-11-12: ILCA Master World in Barcelona... with 300 lasers in competition

Again in Barcelona's waters a great international event
Barcelona is preparing to receive the close to 300 regatists from 29 countries that will compete, from 13 to 20 November, at the ILCA Masters World Championship to be held at the Barcelona International Sailing Center.
This championship will be attended by three of the last world champions of the ILCA Masters class: the British Jon Emmet, the ILCA 6 champion in the Apprentice category; the French Gilles Coadou, the ILCA 6 champion in the Great Master category; and the German Wolfgang Gerz, the ILCA 7 champion in the Great Master category.
The Spanish fleet will be very well represented with the presence of the Olympic Miguel Noguer; Jose Maria Van der Ploeg; "Josele" Doreeste; and "Fredy" Vázquez; and Monica Azón In addition to Leandro Rosado, champion in 2018 in ILCA 7 category Apprentice.
The registration of the participants and the measurements of the vessels will be completed on Saturday and a training race and the opening ceremony will be held. The races begin on Sunday and will be held until next Saturday, November 20, with a day of rest in between.
The championship will be held at the Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC). The race is organized by the Catalan Vela Federation, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona and the Real Club Marítimo de Barcelona, with the collaboration of the World Sailing, the ILCA International Class, the Spanish Vela Federation, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the City of Barcelona and the Diputación de Barcelona.
