Comanche with Willy Altadill wins the triple crown at the Rolex Middle Sea Race

Departure from the Rolex from the beautiful Marina de la Valetta
The Rolex Middle Sea Race 2021 will be remembered for exceptional weather conditions that tested the ability of the 114 participating crews and allowed the achievement of two consecutive records in just a few hours.
The supermaxi Comanche, patronized by the Australian Mitch Booth and with the Spanish Willy Altadill on board, achieved the triple crown by winning in real time, setting a new record and taking the absolute victory, a milestone only achieved by two other ships in the 53-year history of the race.
The 42nd edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race reaffirmed the exceptional reputation of the race as an absolute reference of ocean competition in the Mediterranean. Organized by the Royal Malta Yacht Club since 1968, and with the collaboration of Rolex since 2002, the test began at the majestic Grand Harbour of Malta, at the foot of the historic bastions of La Valeta, on Saturday, October 23, with a weather part that led to a rapid sprint on its 606-mile journey around Sicily in a timeless sense. The fastest monocasks between the 114-boat fleet that took the exit would soon begin to dream of beating the record in force since 2007, when George David's Rambler set a 47-hour, 55-minute and 3-second mark.
