Joan Bennassar (RCN Palma), with a first and third place in the two races held in the red group, has taken over the Meeting International City of Vigo of Optimist, which organizes the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo in the river and which is the first of the four acts of the Excellence Optimist Cup 2021-2022.
Little wind in the first day in the waters of the river of Vigo... and considerable delay in the beginning... with only 7 knots and failed exits in which there was a twenty disqualifications: the Portuguese Mariana Pinto (CN Portimao) suffered it in the red group to sign in the second manga a first place; Hugo Rodríguez (CN s'Arenal) succeeded in the second race of the day after winning the first, and also the world-class Tim Lubat (RCN Palma) in the red, with a second place in the first test.
The fight of a fleet of 184 units in the water was spectacular. On the first day the Mediterranean fleet won: five of the six partial victories were of regatists of the CN s'Arenal and RCN Valencia (two for each) and the Náutico de Palma, for a triumph of the Portuguese Mariana Pinto (CN Portimao).
The classification remains tight. After the sub-16 Bennassar, one of the four components of the Spanish gold team in the European of nations, the sub-13 Blanca Ferrando (RCN Valencia), with the same series (1-3, 4 points). Nikko Palou (RCN Palma, 3-3, 6 points) completed the provisional podium.

The Meeting International City of Vigo, which organizes the Royal Nautical Vigo Club under the patronage of the Vigo Concello, returns this weekend following the cancellation of 2020 by the pandemic.
It will be the beginning of the Excellence Cup, the exclusive Spanish circuit of Optimist on an international basis and only four events: Vigo, El Puerto de Santa María, Torrevieja and Palamós that will mark the end of it, already in February.

Among the favorites: Carlos Espí del Náutico de Valencia, champion of the latest Excellence Cup and fourth in the European of Puerto Real, and the mallorquín Tim Lubat del Náutico de Palma, fourth ranked in the World Cup of Riva di Garda Lago this summer, national champion sub-13 in 2020 and bronze in the Spanish Championship of Baiona 2021.
The Regatas Committee is waiting for a lot of rain for the three days, which will start at 13: 00 hours on this Saturday (at 11: 00 Sunday and Monday) in the classic format: two days of qualifying round (and a total of six tests) and the holiday for the final phase of three other regatas, provided that four sleeves were completed on the weekend. The registered ones will be divided into three groups (Yellow, Blue and Red) in the struggle for absolute titles, sub-16 male and female and sub-13 (also male and female) and another (Orange) for the promotion category (sub-11). The organization has planned two fields of races, one at the beacon of Con do pego and the other at the mountain of A Guía.
