Spain wins the final consolation of the Test Event on Lake Neuchatel

The Spanish team that has participated in the SSL Gold Cup's Test Event in Switzerland. Above: Cantero, Quiroga, Negrín, López Marra, González, Bermudez de Castro... in the Aretz, Mas and Echegoyen squatters... Spain participated from 14 to 17 October in the last test before the celebration in May and June 2022 of the SSL Gold Cup, the world championship of nations, which will take place in the Neuchatel Lakes (Grandson), for the classification phase and Leman (Geneva) for the final phase.

On this occasion the Spanish team formed by regatists classified through the SSL ranking and on the other hand by Captain Luis Doreste has been formed by: Roberto Bermudez de Castro, Támara Echegoyen, Nico Rodríguez, Silvia Mas, Patricia Cantero, Iago López Marra, Nano Negrín, Alfredo González, Simbad Quiroga and Elías Aretz.

The third event test, which is the one that Spain included, involved eight teams distributed in two groups. The Spanish team was part of the group of Austria, Serbia and Sweden. While in the other were Poland, Slovenia, Peru and Denmark.

After two days of fleet races, the first two of each group went on to fight the great final, Spain left third, thus fighting the final consolation. Sweden would be the absolute winner of the event test and Spain had to settle for being the winner of the final consolation and fifth of the final general.

Australia, Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands and New Zealand are the countries that currently occupy the square as serial heads of the Gold Cup, being the first five in the SSL world ranking.
