One of the best units of the Spanish high competition fleet: the Mirfak, a 42-foot legendary Bruce Farr of the Spanish Navy Naval Regatta Commission, based in Ferrol, was proclaimed the winner of the Divine Regata Rei Semana Abanca, which has been held in the waters of the river of Betanzos with the organization of the Nautical Club of Sada.

The first test scheduled for Saturday had been successfully cancelled by the Organizing Committee after the report of the Regatas Committee, chaired by the professional national and marine judge, the Ferrolian Pablo Fernández Alarcón, who was precisely the most responsible in the viguese waters of the Iberian Championship of ILCA that organized the Canido Maritime Club, within the Abanca Week.

The second and final event was held in the middle of excellent conditions on Sunday: wind close to 15 knots for moments, and in the lower part of the intensity 10 knots from the west and tidal in spectacular ría de Betanzos. The judges chose one of the most suitable tracks: exit in the center of the river, to the Exterior Port of Ferrol, to complete a triangle of about 17 miles. In real time the fastest boat was the Mirfak, with a chrono of 01.42.20, followed by the Lambaix, which covered an excellent race... behind them the Vigués Carlos Sampedro Curbera with Eleko-Mambo and the Urbápaz of Fran Edreira.

Diego López once again showed that he is a great pattern, because first he had to work intensely with his crew on Saturday, in order to be able to solve the Mirfak's failure, in his journey to Sada in the midst of winds of more than 30 knots. It should be noted that the ship of the Naval Commission of Regates of Galicia, based in Ferrol the Sun Fast Jeanneau 3600 by Antonio Ríos, made it very difficult... to the point that there were several moments in the 17 miles that the Sada defeated in compensation to the Ferrolians... in the end only 01.10 between them.

Also very good race of the Sampedro vineyard, which made one of the best races of this season with its precious pure blood Eleko-Mambo, that is to say at a certain distance from the first two.

On the back in the absolute general the winner of 2020 and this year he takes the victory in the group of ORC B... the Raygrass that patronizes José Antonio Núñez of the Nautico Club Carrumeiro de Corcubión. Being the fifth place of the general for the Urbapaz of Fran Edeira, this season has been the winner of the Trophy President of the Xunta of Galicia in its category, award that was given to him in early September on Mount Real of Baiona... in union of the Mirfak, the best among the ships of the largest length this season.

In the category of two crew members, victory of the Jambri de La Penela, second was the Delfyna de Sada and third the Pingon of the Maritime Network... while in the category of single sailors the best was the Starship Annie of José Luis Yáñez de Sada.

In short excellent the two cruises of the Abanca Week, with about 70 ships in competition and a lot of level... in Bouzas in the first with the Trophy Villa de Bouzas in play the triumph was for the Swan 42 Magic of Julio Rodríguez... now in Sada another great ship, the Mirfak of the Spanish Navy took the first square. After the heavy sailing break into the Abanca Week, the Nautical Skiing... will be in Cortegada next weekend with the Iberian Grand Galego Sport Award, and the best specialists in Spain and Portugal, in the Orensana waters of the Miño River.

2021-10-02: Mirfak joins the Divine Regatta Rei Week Abanca that cancelled the first delivery

Finally, the Divine Rei of Cruises, immersed in the Abanca Week, which organizes the Nautical Club of Sada, has been reduced to a single manga... that which will be held on Sunday from 12: 00 in the morning, and in which will be one of the best boats of race of the entire Peninsula: the Farr 42 of the Spanish Navy, based on the Naval Commission of Regats of Ferrol, and the marine Diego López to the cane.

Saturday morning was quiet as far as the wind is concerned... but at 11: 00 in the morning the apparent bonanza became a concern... because winds that easily exceeded 15 knots were blowing.

When noon came, all the alarms were turned on... news came from the ships of the Organization, that in Ares the 28 knots were reached and in the ferrolian mouth was 32. And it was done, what had to be done... to send the most responsible technicians, with the national judge Pedro Fernández Alcorcón to the front.

After his return from the sea, this was what was communicated to the fleet: Once the weather situation has been observed at 14: 00, with readings between 27 and 36 knots of a southern component... the Organizing Committee and the Regatas Committee, gathered for this purpose at the Nautical Club of Sada, have unanimously decided to suspend the test scheduled for today Saturday, October 2.

Therefore the Divine Regata Rei will be reduced to the Sunday test, in which there will be no problems of the meteor, and even it is vaticated that it will be a vistous and fast test with winds of 10 to 15 knots. It should be noted that the entire fleet and its crews, which came to Sada from all of the Galician geography, applauded the decision of the Ferrolan judge.

In which it will be decisive and only proof, the best two ORC ships of the Galicia fleet will be on the way out, not in vain have been made with the Trophy President Xunta of Galicia, which had its very final in the Trophy Prince of Asturias that organized last September the Mount Real Club of Yates: Mirfak of Diego López in Classes 0-1, and Urbapaz of Fran Edreira at 2-3.

Finally the Organizing Committee of the Divine Regata Rei that organizes the Nautical Club of Sada, and which is immersed in the Abanca Week, gave the green light to its celebration... so at three o'clock in the afternoon of Saturday, the main judge of the regatta; the Ferrolano Pedro Fernández Alarcón, will give the sign of departure... for a test that must be completed for all purposes at six o'clock in the afternoon, for reasons of meteological cut, and security in final.

In line of departure many of the most representative ships of the north-west fleets... among them two of the three winners of the Trophy President of the Xunta of Galicia 2021: the Urbapaz of Fran Edreira (Classes 2-3) and the Atlantic 3D Printing (J80).

Along with them the great favorites will be the Vigués Carlos Sampedro with Eleko-Mambo, the spectacular Sun Fast 3600 by Antonio Ríos del Náutico de Sada, the Bodegas Benito Santos of Miguel Fernández, the O Rias de Ramón Carnota, the winner of the 2021 edition Raygrass that patronea Antonio Núñez del Náutico Carrumeiro de Corcubión, the Mascato del herculino Enrique Vilariño, Mourisca de Gonzalo Vázquez... and for the surprise factor the very extreme design of the Golfiño is based in José and in Ferrol.

By Sunday if everything goes normal (we talk about meteor), the second test will take place from 12: 00 in the morning. First event of the Abanca Week this year, before the Iberian Nautical Skiing Championship that will take place in Cortegada in the province of Ourense, on the Miño River... next weekend.

It was almost four o'clock in the afternoon, when Enrique Tostado, President of the Organization, sent an emergency email to all registered ships (which despite the meteorological conditions are 35) who prayed textually:"The Nautical Club of Sada with the current weather prediction and the active alerts of this moment, announces that the celebration of the first test of the Divine Regata Rei of Cruises, which will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday October 2, is confirmed. The decision has been made, once the Xunta de Galicia, through the State Meteorology Agency (AEMET), has confirmed the degree of ALERTA NARANJA with the following schedule: 2 October from 6: 00 to 23: 59... leaving in principle the day of Saturday with the LEVEL OF ALERTA AMARILLA (from 12: 00 to 18: 00). It is noted that the competition of the first test will have to end unfathomably before 6 p.m. on Saturday 2 October, for this purpose the Committee of Regatas will take the necessary measures for the purpose of the journey."
