Organizers and regatists of the Mini Transat 2021 show their support from France to the island of La Palma in the face of the effects of the volcano of the Old Summit
A few days after the start of the Mini Transat 2021, which will have in La Palma the goal of its first stage and the beginning of the second, both the organization and the 90 participating regatists have wanted to launch a message of support from the French town of Les Sables D'Olonne, the starting point of the race, in the face of the devastating effects that the Old Summit volcano is causing among those affected since the eruption last Sunday.
We all expressed solidarity with you, our friends, and with all the inhabitants of the island of La Palma and wanted to show you this solidarity. This photo is the invisible link that has already been woven between us, says Marc Chopin, organizer of the Mini Transat and president of Korrigan, who has expressed affection through a letter addressed to the president of the Royal Nautical Club of La Palma to extend to palm society, especially those affected, and to the island and regional authorities.
To stage their support, organizers and navigators have sent the letter and a photo with a banner that reads the expression Minis Transat, solidarity with La Palma... special love has wanted to manifest Djemila Tassin, the palm patron who on board the Kairos will become one of the participants of the prestigious transoceanic regatta, and that appears in the center of photography.
"This photo is the invisible link that has already been woven between us. We'll be right next to him," adds Marc Chopin's letter. In addition, the organization of Mini Transat has shown its affection and support for palm citizenship on all its social networks.
The Mini Transat has planned the gradual arrival of the ships to La Palma from the first days of October. It will scale in La Palma in its next three editions, 2021, 2023 and 2025. This milestone in the history of palmer sport is possible thanks to theof His Excellency Cabildo Insular de La Palma in its area of Tourism, the City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma, as well as the Government of the Canary Islands, through Promotur and the General Directorate of Sports, the Harbour Authority of Tenerife and Calero Marinas - Marina La Palma.
