Olsson and Hontoria waiting for the start of the Mini Transat- Eurochef 2021

10 days before the Valencians enter this transatlantic adventure along with 88 other regatists
Carlos Olsson and Genis Hontoria are already on the Atlantic coast of France to start one of the most demanding races in the world: the Mini Transat. For them, this adventure that has become a way of life is about to begin and we are not going to miss detail.
On September 26, the initial gunshot will be given to this biannual race that has been held since 1977. Divided in two stages, the competition begins in French and ends in the Caribbean, making a scale in the Canary Islands. A total of 1500 miles that both Carlos and Genis will have to complete alone by demonstrating their mental and physical capacity in high navigation.
After completing the more than 2500 miles sailing in Europe, Carlos Olsson got the classification with Koan the 2007 Pogo 2 sailboat that will be his great adventure partner. On the other hand, Genis Hontoria will face the challenge with the Blue Oscar, a Born who already knows what it is to win the Mini Transat as he did in 2013 and again participated in 2017.
Initially limited to 84, the number of entries in the Mini Transat - EuroChef 2021 has increased this month to 90 athletes who can compete in this race. "For each edition, strict qualification criteria are established designed to ensure maximum safety of the regatists, which means that there is a limit in the number of competitors. Although it is impossible to meet everyone's expectations, we have done our best to ensure that as many regatists as possible have the opportunity to sail in the race and the best we can do today is 90. We can therefore open the doors to six new regatists this year," explains Marc Chopin, president of the Korrigan company and organizer of the event.
