The island of La Palma will witness, in the first days of next October, the arrival of the Mini Transat Regata that will have the greatest participation of ships in history.
This historic event, and its recalculated as a scale in Santa Cruz de La Palma whose organization is the Royal Nautical Club of Santa Cruz de La Palma, has been possible thanks to the involvement of public institutions such as the Cabildo Insular de La Palma in its area of Tourism, the City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma, the sponsor of the Government of Canarias, through the General Directorate of Sports and Promotur, as well as the determined commitment made by the Harbour Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, whose president, Carlos González, has expressed the pride of recovering a Regata that he emphasized in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in its first edition.
Thus, as a follow-up to the working days that have been taking place in recent months, among which are those recently held with the Tourism Counsellor of the Island Cabildo, D. Raúl Camacho, and the mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Juan José Cabrera, have held meetings of technical coordination and logistics between the competent entities in the entrance of ships in the capital palm, namely, the Harbour Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the head of the Maritime District, Practics of the Port, as well as the organization of the Real Club Náutico de Santa Cruz de La Palma and the Harbour District of La Palma, Carlos Delgado, in the Chief of the Municipality of La Palma, Carlos García and the Office of La Palma; De las Nieves, Carlos Jaubert, Comodoro del Real Club Náutico de Santa Cruz de La Palma and Victor Montero, representative of Asmar.
The ninety vessels that bring together regatists of 14 different nationalities from four continents will leave from the French port of Le Sables de Olonne and are called to cover 4050 nautical miles, until their final destination the island of Guadalupe.
Santa Cruz de La Palma will host the scale in the next three editions (2021, 2023 and 2025) of the prestigious biennial race, as was announced in December 2019 in the Nautical Hall of Paris.
The forecast provides that the regatists begin to arrive from next 3 October to the Port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, while their departure to Isla de Guadalupe will take place on 29 October. During his stay throughout the month of October, on the island and Santa Cruz de La Palma the organization of the Mini Transat will deploy an extensive programme of activities that will energize the palm capital socially, economically, sportly and culturally.
