SailGP, created in 2018 and in its second season, is an international competition that is held annually, uniting state-of-the-art technology and an impressive sports level. Powered by Nature, and moved for a purpose, with races that take place near the coast, focused on the fans, SailGP takes place in the most emblematic ports of the world and culminates with a match race where the winner takes a million dollars at the end of the season.
In the third season, which will begin in May 2022, the Swiss SailGP team will face-to-face the other rival teams: Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United States. Teams with Olympic medalists, world champions and Cup America winners in their ranks. The competition takes place in identical F50 catamarans, designed to achieve impressive speeds exceeding 100 km / h.
The Swiss SailGP team was born from Team Tilt, an entity founded in 2012 that provides support to the country's young regatists. The team has demonstrated its level of ambition since its inception, winning the Bull d'Or Mirabaud and the D35 Trophy in 2015 and finishing second on the GC32 Racing Tour in 2016. The Tilt team represented Switzerland in both editions of the Red Bull Youth America's Cup, in 2013 (4th) and 2017 (3rd). He won the GC32 World Championship title in 2018 and was a subchampion in 2019. It was also voted the best Swiss sailing team in 2019.
