The Princess Sofia Trophy announces its return in April 2022

The Organizing Committee of the race has decided to cancel the special edition scheduled for the first week of October
The Princess Sofia Mallorca Trophy, one of the most important Olympic class races in Europe, will hold its 51st edition next year. After completing a successful 50th edition in 2019, the event could not be held in 2020 and had to postpone the dates of its 2021 edition by the Covit-19 pandemic. Last February, the Organizing Committee announced its intention to celebrate the race between 2 and 9 October, but the current scenario motivated by the reordering of calendars of several Olympic classes to adapt to the world situation has caused the event to be cancelled.
Ferrán Muniesa, director of the Princess Sofia Mallorca Trophy, explains the reasons: The intense autumn race calendar has led to an inevitable overlap of dates between several Olympic class championships and this special edition we planned to make between October 2 and 9. This situation reduces the number of participants who could attend, so we have chosen to suspend the race and direct all our energy to the organization of the 2022 edition, which we look forward to.
The 51 Princess Sofia Mallorca Trophy will be held from 2 to 9 April 2022. The Princess Sofia Mallorca Trophy is organized by the Club Nàutic S'Arenal, the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, the Real Club Náutico de Palma, the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federation Balear de Vela, with the support of Transmed GLE, the Govern Illes Balears, the Fundació Mallorca Turisme, and the municipalities of Palma and Llucmajor.
