Week IV Adventures when 350 optimist from 20 countries competed in the Viguese Ria

Nautica Digital Europe Competition Highlights History

Julien Authenrieth... won in Vigo and then was proclaimed the world champion in Uruguay... by the way in the image two policies that have always supported the Week... the popular Lucía Molares then city council of Viguesa sports and the nationalist Marta Souto who was general director of Sports of the Xunta de Galicia (Photo Maria Muíña)

The Optimist Class owes a lot to Pepe Gandara in particular, as well as to the Mount Real Club of Yates of Baiona in general; for its work in the 1970s of last century... the same is true of Caixanova Week, and within it with the Meeting Pescanova... that this century between 2003 and 2012 have been basic, in the launch of the class in our country.

Jorge Santos was the one who convinced of the need for support to his company Caixanova... politically the institutional thrust of Manuel Fraga first and the executive of the nationalist social coalition later in the Xunta of Galicia itself... Caixanova Week and Vigo accordingly, became the second strategic point of the optimist at European level... along with the unbeatable Lago di Garda Italian.

Not to mention that Caixanova came to sponsor the National Optimist Team (thanks to the efforts of Ramón Ojea), as when Paco Coro, had replaced the first president of the AECIO, Rafael Munilla Zabelta, who was the preacher in the launch of a children's class, which at the end of the last century and at the beginning of the present... was in low hours.

Munilla, with the support of the missing Mariano Yurrita, based in Anoeta in San Sebastián, connected with Triente in 2000 with the aim that the Viguese company that at that time led Antonio Viejo to draw a line of development, both of the AECIO brand itself (the design was made personally by Viejo), and to develop a nautical brand, which was presented that same year in the Nautical Hall of Barcelona by the hand of WORK 60 SPAIN.

When we reached an agreement with the Nautico de Vigo to organize the Caixanova Week in Vigo with its technical support, the empowerment of the Optimist was put on the table... we spoke of a time that in a Galician Championship there were no more than 50 ships... well in the face of the closed proposal of Triente, the Nautico accepted surprised and asked at the end of the meeting Do we accept the proposal... but where is the secret... see you get in with the optimist, instead of organizing cruise races... or you have something behind you or you're crazy...?

What some of the directors of that great president who was Manuel Frade didn't know... was that Manuel Fraga's guidelines personally to me were: I organized something in the fall or winter of a candle, with a lot of people... and if they're little better... that way they'll come with their brothers and their parents... something they had as emergency witnesses. to several members of the staff of Fraga... after which was famous food in the Portonovo coinciding with Fitur in MadridThe class chosen was the optimist.

With a Rafael Munilla immediately informed of the support of the great Galician politician... the aid as it was to be expected was total... and Paco Coro comes, who is taught by the donostiarra, who leaves the office...

Coro becomes the valor of Caixanova Week, when the Circuito de Excelencia is built around him... by being considered the top in Spain... by bringing in the very Klein that was the number one of the IODA, to officially support the Viguese appointment, considering it worldwide...

Appointment to be followed by that of the Government of Emilio Pérez Touriño... the Xunta of Galicia who considers it to be EVENTO ESTRETEGIC OUR ONE OF THE GALLEGO BASE... or a project made in Fraga... was applauded by socialists and nationalists... the victory had been for the base candle and for the great work of CAIXANOVA for sport.

The nationalist Santiago Domínguez Olveira (which was basic in everything reported) that he was general director of sports, he personally informed us to the Old and me that he has been awarded the award at the Council of the Xunta of Galicia referred, and that we had to pick him up in Santiago de Compostela in the Gala of Sport of Galicia... we informed our partners, the Real Club Náutico de Vigo... and so it is done, that we accompany Franco and Ojea (president and comedio) that we are not the ones who collect the prize... but Caixanova in the person of its director General José Luis Pego... and so we do, that we are accompanied by the executive of the most important president of the San Jorge, as well as we do.

That far from 2005 the Optimist returned in Galician and Spanish waters to shine as before. In Vigo, 350 optimist from more than 20 countries were quoted... the winner of the German Julian Antenrieth... the kaiser, that of the Munich Yacht Club Bayer...

It was the beginning of achievements... because years after they exceeded 400 optimist and the Circuito of Excellence was consolidated by the hand of that great worker, Paco Coro, today President of the Andalusian Federation and Vice President of the Royal Spanish Vela Federation... what happened years later in 2012 with the Meeting International has become part of the blackest history of the candle in Galicia...

By the way, in 2005 two optimists that have shone this year in Tokyo participated: Diego Botin (Olympic diploma) and Jordi Xammar (bronze medal)... the santanderino won in Vigo the Optimist Class B... while the Catalan was the fourth on the same list of the younger.
