Sled has been declared the winner of the Port Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week after the two planned sleeves could not be disputed today. It is the second triumph of the shipowner's team Takashi Okura, after which he got in 2019 in Porto Cervo. The podium is accompanied by Doug DeVos' Quantum Racing and the Phoenix of the Plattner family. As far as the Invitational race is concerned, the final winner has been Richard Kwok's Beau Geste.
Sled has built his victory on the excellent day on Thursday when he not only recovered the advantage of the Quantum but was able to overcome it by one point in the general. And that point has been definitive.
At one in the afternoon, the first of the two planned sleeves was released and the nine TP52 left normally, but seconds before the Invitational fleet was to leave Maria Torrijo decided to suspend the sleeve because the wind was falling and rolling.
From that moment on there was a movement of the fleet towards the entrance of the bay in search of the breeze to almost catch it by boat soon. But it was still very unstable and the time-limit scam of the last day made it decided that the fleet would return to the ground. Sled is the fifth boat to win a race in Puerto Portals. Azzurra, Quantum, Platoon and Provides had previously done so.

The Sled is the new leader of the Port Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week after the third day of race in which three tests were held. The winners of the sleeves of the day were Sled himself, the Phoenix and the Provizza.
The general of the race has been compressed with the Sled with a point of advantage over the Quantum and four over the Phoenix that closes the podium. But until the Bronenosec, seventh, there are only eight points so the struggle for triumph is still open.
To understand the maximum equality that exists in the fleet it is only to see that in the six sleeves held in Puerto Portals there have been up to five different winners. Only the Sled has been able to repeat partial triumph after the three sleeves today had different protagonists.
Tomorrow the struggle for the general is postponed as the TP52 20th Anniversary Invitational race is expected to be held in which the 16 TP52 will go out to compete together and the results of the day will not count for the general. It will be Saturday when two new sleeves of the race are held to meet the first winner of the 2021 season.

2021-08-23: The most striking season of the TP52 begins in Portals... after 18 months of covid drought

Puerto Portals welcomes from today to Saturday the return to the office of the 52 Super Series. It has been almost 18 months of waiting, but the return will not disappoint anyone because the world's most important race for monocasque ships returns with all its strength and with a bouquet of aspirants to the title of the season that will make it exciting.
To the nine teams that will fight for the victory on the circuit are joined in Puerto Portals seven TP52 guests who participate in the Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week & TP52 20th Anniversary Invitational. In total the fleet tied in the port of Calvià is 16 sailboats. Today the multitudinary joint training race has been held and since tomorrow the whole action with the separate fleets has begun.
In the practice test the winner has been the Beau Geste of the shipowner Karl Kwok with Gavin Brady to the cane. This boat is a modern and highly optimized TP52 with a stick of a meter higher than those participating in 52 Super Series. Today he has made an excellent race and has given himself the pleasure of cutting the line of arrival in the first place. He was followed by Platoon, Phoenix and Quantum, all three in seven seconds.
After 18 months of sports paron today the faces of the nine teams that this season will fight for the final victory in 52 Super Series again. Until this season the final triumphs have been spread between the Quantum Racing and the Azzurra with four obstacles each. Azzurra is no longer in the fleet so Quantum is going to have other rivals in the race field. The ship that owns the shipowner Doug DeVos has the great asset of Terry Hutchinson's return to the tactic and leadership in the crew. Their competitive hunger and knowledge make any ship on which they join, without a doubt, a hard contender.
