The five Spanish boats that have competed today in the second day of the Pyragüismo in esprint have managed to qualify for their respective semifinals, consolidating the expectations of success of the Spanish team at the Tokyo Games, in which it adds two silver medals obtained by Maialen Chourraut and Teresa Portela.

On Wednesday, the K2 1,000 of Paco Cubelos and Iñigo Peña, after winning their elimination (3m10s138), secured the direct pass to the semifinal, and in K1 200 they made it second in his Saul Craviotto (35s002) and Carlos Arévalo (34s452).

The Galician Teresa Portela, in her sixth JJOO, today achieved the silver medal in K1 200 meters in Tokyo 2020, where Spanish pyragüismo has also joined Olympic diploma in C2 1,000 meters, with the eighth position of the Andalusian Tano García and Pablo Martínez.

The Portela en esprint medal is the second podium obtained by Spanish pyragüism on this Olympic event after the second square obtained by Maialen Chourraut in slalon, pending the entry into competition of the rest of Spanish boats with several options to expand the number of Olympic preseas, which currently amounts to 18, the second Spanish sport with more Olympic pods behind the candle (19).

Portela, which reaches its sixth Olympic date, was imposed in its elimination in K1 200 with a time of 40: 812 seconds while the young couple of debutantes García-Martínez have finished seconds in C2 1,000 with a record of 3m.44s.947.
