Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez fired the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by the big door hanging the bronze in 470 Male, which is in addition to the one achieved yesterday by Joan Cardona, in the Finn class. The Spanish performance is closed in these Games with two bronze medals and three Olympic Diplomas (49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17).

After yesterday's tremendous day, the Olympic sailing calendar came to an end today with the Medal Race dispute of the 470 Male and Female classes. Spanish attention was focused on the crew of Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez to pay a medal for the passage of the Spanish fleet by Enoshima.

Without bragging, Sagami Bay was saying goodbye to us with the just wind, the just one to make the crews sweat each of the final positions. With the gold awarded to the Australians Belcher and Ryan, Xammar and Rodríguez fought for silver with the Swedish Dahlberg and Bergstrom, without losing sight of New Zealanders and British to secure bronze.

2021 / 08 / 03: Joan Cardona achieves a deserved bronze medal in the Finn class

Image captured from the Eurosport issue... the shooting has shown its joy by flying the Spanish flag, only to finish the last sleeve

Joan Cardona has gone back when it seemed that he was going to escape the medal... finishing sixth on the Finn's Medal Race and New Zealand has been eighth... gold is for Britain and silver for Hungary. The work of the Mahonese has been spectacular and this medal is a well-deserved prize for his efforts.

Tamara Echegoyen has remained at the podium's door... unless a claim or protest positively affects him in 49erFX, a category in which he has been fourth and therefore achieved Olympic diploma. In an exciting manga the Orensana was overcome by Brazil (gold), Germany (silver) and the Netherlands (bronze)... while in this final test was imposed the Argentine regatist, who had no options... The history of the Galician in Rio is repeated.

2021 / 07 / 31: Sailing boys and girls want medals and are fighting like soaps in Tokyo

Diego Botín and Iago López Marra will fight for gold at the 49er Medal Race from the third position, four points from the first... in 49erFX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló close the series of fleet races in fourth position to compete Monday for metal posts... Joan Cardona remains in the second square with two races to be fought to decide the Top10 of the Finn class... Angel Granda, fifth in the RS: X M Medal Race, ends tenth in Tokyo (Muíña photos)

Seventh day of races in Sagami Bay that closes the participation of Ángel Granda in the JJOO with a fifth place in the Medal Race, tenth in the general; the skiffs leave their classification ready for the deal of the Medal Race with Botín and López Marra third in 49er and Echegoyen and Barcelo quartas in 49er FX. Nacra 17 and Finn still have to fight another day of fleet tests with Cardona in second position and Pacheco-Trittel in fifth.

Ángel Granda, RS: X Male, closes its participation in Tokyo with a 5th place in the General Medal Race. The security of the gold has not stopped the Dutch Kiran Badloe, who has finished his results with a second place, leaving the silver in the hands of the French Thomas Goyard despite his offline in the great final. The Italian Mattia Camboni escaped the bronze by also incurring off-line and he went to the hands of the Chinese Bi Kun.

The Chinese Yunxiu Lu confirms her gold in RS: X Feminine with a third place in the Medal Race, a final race won by the French Charline Picon which thus shreds the silver to the British Emma Wilson, who, despite the tie to points, is finally left with bronze.

With the third place of the general, tied with silver and four points of gold, Diego Botín and Iago López Marra close the fleet races to fight, on Monday, the 49th class Medal Race. The Cantabro-Galician crew today signs a 4-12-6, highlighting the dating of the last test... which has not been easy work The day has broken the unfolding that existed in Top3 giving the provisional leadership to New Zealanders Burling / Tuke, to the detriment of the British Fletcher / Bithell who are second.

Readjustment of positions at 49er FX, where Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló will face the Medal Race from the fourth position, four points from bronze and seven points from silver and gold. With fairly irregular winds, difficult to predict, today's performance dance has not only affected Spanish women, but also leads to the tie of Dutch Bekkking / Duetz and Brazilian Grael / Kunze, and has podium the German Lutz / Beucke.

In the Finn class, the Joan Cardona ballast has dealt with two difficult tests, trying to adapt to a changing race field, to keep the provisional silver when two sleeves remain ahead to decide the Top10 of this class. After a 13 in the first day that he discards from his marker, the chances of recovery have been greater in the second test, in which he has finished seventh.

Three races still to be fought and eight points of difference with the podium have still ahead of them the canary Tara Pacheco and the Catalan Florian Trittel in Nacra 17, which are one place in the general, fifths, and are eight points from the podium. The Spanish have been the undisputed protagonists of the second manga of the day, dominating the fleet from the exit to the line of arrival, with a strong navigation that makes clear the possibilities of this team.

Tomorrow with the 49th and 49th FX on a rest day before the Medal Race, Finn and Nacra 17 will make their last fleet races... the 470 Male and Female with two days, four races, will be held before their Olympic end on Wednesday.

2021 / 07 / 30: 49er, 49FX and 470M increasingly close to the medals in Tokyo

Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló are second in 49er FX to a point of gold with only three races to fight before the Medal Race... the 49th Top3 of 49er points to points, with Botín and López Marra in third position... Sixth day of races in Tokyo with series end for the Laser Standard and Women, in which Joel Rodríguez and Cristina Pujol close their first Olympic Games in 16th and 23rd respectively; Echegoyen / Barceló are second in 49er FX, and Botín and López Marra third, in a Top3 of 49er tied to points. In 470 Male Xammar and Rodríguez go up to the fourth square while Mas and Cantero are 11th in 470 Women.

The Sagami Bay was almost wind-free today and the races have been fought under minimum conditions, with only 5-7 knots, which have put all the regatists in compromised situations.

On this day so complicated by the lack of wind, the performance of Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló that they climb one more place in the Top3 of 49er FX to be second, separated by a point of gold and with 5 of advantage over bronze. The Galician-Balear crew thus continues its upward pace, with a determined attitude of struggle. There are still three races ahead to complete the series before the Medal Race, races that Echegoyen and Barcelo face aware of the high level of the fleet.

The classification of 49er is put to the red alive with the Top3 tied to points, in which the cantabre Diego Botín and the Galician Iago López Marra today occupy the third step after adding a (15) -2-5. The Spanish have defended the second and third tests although they did not have favourable conditions, while a couple of bad decisions and the little speed they could generate, led them to compromise the discards with the 15 of the first manga.

In 470 Male, Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez are magnified, making the most of conditions unfavorable to them, and scoring a (14) -1 that leads them to the fourth position of the general, to a single point of the provisional podium. If in the first race a bad decision led the Catalan-Galician dupla to a penalty and the impossibility to remount, in the second they have been able to take the head of the fleet from the first close to win with authority.

The Catalan Silvia Mas and the Canary Islands Patricia Cantero are the ones that have paid the most for the difficult wind conditions of this Friday, adding a 14- (15) that places them in 11th position, three points from the Top10. The attitude can be no other than that stated by them: "Fight point by point, every test that lies ahead of us."

The low wind conditions have, however, been favourable for the Catalan Cristina Pujol in Laser Radial, which closes the marker of its first Olympic Games with a fourth partial seat, to end in 23 of the general.

Tomorrow, the first great sailing final, the RS: X Male Medal Race, in which Spain will be represented by the Canary Angel Granda. The 470 Male and Female rest tomorrow while the Finn and Nacra 17 return to the water and 49er and FX will continue their incarnated struggle.

2021 / 07 / 29: The first sailing final for Spain... by Angel Granda in RS: Male X

The Canary Angel Granda is classified for the Medal Race in its first Games... two silver posts after today's day: Botín and López Marra seconds in 49er tied with gold, and Joan Cardona in Finn at a point of the first... Mas and Cantero go back nine posts at 470 F and are located seven (Muíña Maria Photos)

Fifth day of the Olympic Games that closes with Ángel Granda as the protagonist by sealing the first Spanish pass to a Medal Race, that of RS: X Male; in Feminino, Blanca Manchón has given it all one more day looking for that square of Top10 but is left to the doors in the 13th place.

Two provisional plates with Button and López Marra tied to points with gold and Joan Cardona to a point of precious metal in Finn. In Nacra 17, Pacheco and Trittel go up to six and in 470 Women Mas and Cantero go back to seventh position as Xammar and Rodríguez go down to her. Joel Rodríguez is 15 in Laser Standard and Cristina Pujol 25 in Radio.

This new day in Sagami Bay has been dominated by softer winds than yesterday, playing between 10 and 15 knots. In addition to the waves, algae and some of the other plastic have accompanied our regatists today, on a long day in which they have competed all classes except the 49er FX.

The last day of fleet races in RS: X Male closes with the canary Ángel Granda at the posts of Medal Race, with a (18) -7-8 that leads you up to the tenth square to close the select group of ten regatists that on Saturday will play the medals.

The goal of Granda today was to enter the Medal and has achieved it with great effort and hands destroyed after four days of race. Today he has felt comfortable sailing with good speed and, even though in conditions of strong wind like today, 15-18 knots, he pays for his lack of weight, good exits have allowed him to be there and enter the coveted Top10.

With a weaker wind forecast for Saturday, Ángel Granda is clear that he will go for all: "At the Medal Race there will be less wind so the goal is to win it." His Olympic premiere was with a 2-3 that allows him to bid for this result.

In its second Olympic Games and 17 years after its participation in Atlanta, Blanca Manchónse remains at the gates of the RS: X Women's Medal Race, after rejoining today from 13 to 11. The sevillana says goodbye with sadness but with pride after having given her the best of herself with the handicap of a recent injury that has not let her be 100%.

Two of the Spanish crews are today in silver square, leading the national positions. The first to seal the result were Diego Botín and Iago López Marra in 49er, who after two races not only maintained the second place yesterday, but a 5- (12) was good for them to tie points with the leaders. In the equator of its test calendar, the Cantabro-Galician crew now focuses on not adding more points than necessary and on monitoring its rivals to complete as this excellent first part of the Olympic Games deserves.

Joan Cardona has four of the ten races scheduled for the Finn class, and faces them from a solid second place to a single point of gold. The shooting has again demonstrated its consistency in the two sleeves today, adding a 2-3 with which it meets its goal of maintaining Top3 results. Today it has sailed comfortable, without taking great risks in the exits and taking advantage of the pressure that it is to participate in an Olympic Games to get the best out of it.

An eighth and fifth place in today's sleeves cause Jordi Xammar and Nico Rodríguez to pass from the third to the seventh place of the general in 470 Male, after a day in which despite making good departure, the Catalan-Galician dupla has not developed the right tactic to defend his position. Aware of their possibilities, the crew is confident that for them the Games have done nothing but start, they only take four out of ten races and for the moment the important thing is not to take off the head group and get better day by day.

If yesterday they did not close the day with a good taste of mouth, today the Catalan Silvia Mas and the Canary Islands Patricia Cantero have given it all in the two contested races of 470 Women.

The last day is given for the Laser class that tomorrow Friday will decide the pass to the Medal Race. At Laser Standard, the canary Joel Rodríguez today has met his goal of being more aggressive and with a 9-10 spider three posts on the table to be 15.

Tomorrow it will be a day of rest for the RS: X, who will fight on Saturday the Medal Race, as well as for the Nacra 17 and the Finn. The Laser Standard and Radio will close their classification for the final Sunday races.

2021 / 07 / 28: Spain gets into podium of 49er, 470M, 49erFX and Finn at the Tokyo Games

The crew of Diego Botín and Iago López Marra closes a spectacular day with a 1-2-5 that places him in the provisional silver to a point of gold in 49er... Xammar and Rodríguez show caution and decision in a premiere sealed with a 10-1 that takes them to the bronze step... in 49er FX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló go back hard to get into the Top3 just two points of silver... Joan Cardona shines in Finn as the most regular in the fleet, staying as a bronze candidate with the view set on the gold that has a single point (Maria Muíña photos)

Wind and waves on the fourth day of the Tokyo Olympic Games on the day of the premiere of the 470 M and F and Nacra 17. Diego Botín and Iago López Marra are the Spanish with the best position, seconds in 49er, while Joan Cardona in Finn, Jordi Xammar with Nico Rodríguez in 470 Male and Támara Echegoyen with Paula Barceló in 49er FX are third parties respectively.

Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel debuts with a seventh in Nacra 17 and Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero do with a 16 in 470 Feminine. Big Angel and White Manchon are 11th and 13th in RS: X M and F respectively

With rachas of more than 20 knots and a sea sown with waves, the physical demand of the day of races has been extreme, with Diego Botín and Iago López Marra in 49er highlighting as the best positions of the Spanish team. They are placed in silver square in their second round of tests, with three sleeves in which they have added a 1-2-5.

Good taste of mouth for Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez at the premiere of the 470 Male, which add up to 10-1, being the only team of Top3 with victory in its markers. The Catalan-Galician team is fighting very strong rivals and has avoided risks in the first race. In the second they have played strong with a very solid navigation that has led to the triumph to position themselves from the beginning as an aspiring double to the metal in the third place of the provisional.

Today's excellent management of Joan Cardona in the Finn fleet, which with a (5) -3 is kept on the third step of the podium to a single point of gold. The positions in this Top3 remain unremovable but the shooting makes the difference by successfully bringing to a conclusion its maximum of adding Top5 results, knowing that keeping on this goal is the key to being up at the end of the Games.

Impressive dating from the Galician Támara Echegoyen and the shooting Paula Barceló in 49er FX when the class reaches the equator of its Olympic Games, with six of the 12 planned tests held. The Spanish move from the eighth place from the table to the bronze that is the third, and only two points from the silver.

In Nacra 17, the canaria Tara Pacheco and the Catalan Florian Trittel premiered four points from the podium in the seventh place, after a very hard and demanding day on board the flying catamaran. The aim of the Spanish crew is to be in the head group, fight day by day and keep this line in order to be able to attack the first positions in the remaining championship.

In RS: X Male, the Canary Angel Granda has defended positions under conditions of hard wind that are not yours, ascending to position 11 to two points of Top10. The Andalusian White Manchón, in RS: X Feminino, continues to accuse the consequences of its standing injury that are made especially evident with wind and waves, despite which it remains close to Top10, in the thirteenth place.

Start with setbacks for the duo formed by the Catalan Silvia Mas and the Canary Islands Patricia Cantero in 470 Women. The Spanish have faced a stirred sea, with a lot of wave and wind, conditions with which they had long not fought and with which they have not felt comfortable.

At position 16 of the table, with a 12-14, the girls of 470 look forward, aware that there are still many races and that a good analysis is the best approach to learn from the errors and continue to fight to the end.

Tomorrow, the Laser Standard and Radio return to the race field while the 49er FX will have a rest day and the 49er will try to recover the undisputed evidence yesterday.

2021-07-27: The debutante in a game... Joan Cardona starts third in Finn

First day for the Finn, 49er and 49er FX, after which the Spanish Joan Cardona is placed in medal positions of the Finn class, third of the provisional... partial as two third positions of Joan Cardona in Finn, a second of Echegoyen / Barceló in 49er FX, and a fifth of Botín / Lopez- Marra in 49er, mark the potential of the Spanish in Tokyo (Muíña Maria Fotos)

Long and complicated day in Enoshima, Olympic Sailor, after which the Spanish crews leave great joys as the third temporary position of Joan Cardona in the Finn class and two crews in Top10: 5º Botín / Ópez- Marra in 49er and 8º Echegoyen / Barceló in 49er FX. Laser Standard Joel Rodríguez is 18th and Cristina Pujol is 22nd.

The first classes to go out to the race field today, 49er FX, Laser Radial and Laser Standard, have had to fight in a Sagami Bay where the wind has been strong, with rackets that were over 20 knots, and unstable in direction. In the afternoon shift, on the contrary, the wind was changing in direction and lost its way causing postponement and long waiting.

The debut of the Finn, 49er and 49er FX classes is filled with the three teams in Top10 posts, highlighting the performance of Joan Cardona in Finn who, after two third posts, closes the first provisional Top3 of the class. In its premiere at an Olympic Games, the Spanish team's Benjamin has been strong in a very regular class, in which the first three positions have repeated positions in the two contested races.

The 49th's premiere is closed with a single test in the markers, in which the Spanish Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra have finished fifths. It has been a long day with little content finally for this fleet that has spent many hours in the water waiting for the wind to enter and start, with a first attempt to race failed. The couple Cantabro-Galician has fought at all times in front of the fleet, in a strip and loosen with the German and British crews.

Of the first to go out into the water in the Enoshima, Támara Echegoyen and PaulaBarceló regatta field, as well as the rest of the 49er FX teams, have had to deal with unstable wind conditions and strong rachas, premiering with a second position in their marker. The second race has been marked by a turn of the Galician-Balar tandem, after which they have recovered positions to finish tenths, with an off-line on the last sleeve. On a day when all the crews have had their stumbling, the Spanish take part in the Top10 class with the eighth position.

The Laser Standard today recovered the race they could not dispute during the first day, adding three tests in which the canary Joel Rodríguez has been 13º-9º- (25th), closing the day in 18th position.

Also hard and complicated day for the Laser Radial, among whom the Catalan Cristina Pujol has seen her low weight for the class to lose ground in front of her rivals. With a 24-26 finish the day at position 22.

Tomorrow, a day of rest for the Laser Radial and Standard, we will have great activity in the water with the premiere of the races of Nacra 17 (Tara Pacheco / Florian Trittel) and 470 female (Silvia Mas / Patricia Cantero) and male (Jordi Xammar / Nicolás Rodríguez), the RS: X male and female will resume their calendar and continue with the tests of Finn, 49er and 49er FX.

2021-07-26:The wind harms the Navy at the Games... and they all come out of their top ten.

Second day of Olympic Games marked by the instability of the wind in Sagami Bay... RS: X, female and male, hoard the best results with Blanca Manchón and Ángel Granda in 12th position of the general (Muíña Maria Photos)

Second day of races at the Tokyo Olympic Games, with a bay of Sagami dominated by the unstable wind, both in direction and in intensity, and much current, conditions that have not favored either the development of the tests or the results of the Spanish regatists: Blanca Manchón, 12; Angel Granda, 12; Joel Rodríguez, 16; Cristina Pujol, 18.

With two races disputed for the Laser Radial and Laser Standard, and three for the RS: male and female X, the success in the tactical options has now been fundamental in the two race fields that have hosted the tests, Enoshima and Kamakura.

Among the Spanish regatists, Blanca Manchón and Ángel Granda, RS: X feminine and male respectively, they rise as the best placed in the general classifications occupying each of them in position 12.

For Blanca Manchón it has been a particularly difficult day, under harsh wind conditions with rachas that have reached up to 25 knots. The recent foot injury has passed bill and has not sailed comfortable, defending positions but not just identifying with the wind. With three new tests in the female RS: X lockers, the Andalusian adds a 14-13-16 to its markers that lead to the 12.

The class RS: Male X, in which the Canary Angel Granda sails, was today the last to leave the race field after the celebration of three sleeves. The canary regatist has fought in each of them on the top of the table, drawing the traps of instability of the day to add a 14-13- (17) to the 12 of the provisional.

An unequal day for the canary Joel Rodríguez at Laser Standard, in whose field of races the current and roles have reigned. In a very compact fleet, Rodríguez has fought the first race ending in fourth position, with less success in the second one in which he has not been able to remount and has finished 23. The result of the first test allows you to ascend in the general classification from position 21 to 16.

The conditions have also been variable for the Catalan Cristina Pujol in Laser Radial, with two new races held. After them, with a 23 and a 28, the Spanish one stands at 18 of the provisional general.

Tomorrow... it will be rest day for the RS: X M and F, with new races for the Laser Radial and Standard and premiere of the Finn classes (Joan Cardona), 49er (Diego Botín and Iago López Marra) and 49er FX (Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló).

2021-07-25: Cristina Pujol wins in Radio Laser the inaugural race of the Games

The Catalan Cristina Pujol premiered its marker with a first place in the opening race of the Laser Radial class... the canary Ángel Granda is placed second in the general after signing a 2-3 in the races of the day in RS: X male. The instability was the main feature of the second part of the day, with a ninth in the general for Blanca Manchón, RS: X F, and a single race for the Laser Standard, where Joel Rodríguez was 21st (Muíña photos)

The Bay of Enoshima, an Olympic sub-headquarters in Tokyo 2020, today opened the curtain of the Olympic Sailing Games, with races for the RS classes: X male and female, Laser Radial and Laser Standard, after which three of the four Spanish regatists who have sailed today are located in Top10: Angel Granda, second in RS: X Male; Cristina Pujol, eighth in Laser Radial; and Blanca Manchón, ninth in RS: X female.

The conditions have been better for navigation during the first part of the day, in which they have navigated the male RS: X and the Radial Laser, with winds that, with an average intensity of 10 knots, have allowed the development of the scheduled tests, three and two respectively.

The regatta fields, Enoshima and Kamakura, were complicated with the passage of hours and instability was accused as the RS: female X and Laser Standard came. In tables, the fleet in which he sails Blanca Manchón, has suffered but has been able to complete the three planned tests, while in Laser Standard, with Joel Rodríguez representing Spain, it has been impossible to leave the second race of the day.

Riccardo Ravagnan, a meteorologist of the RFEV, advances us that by tomorrow "the conditions will be of winds from the north-east, about 15 knots, with rachas of 18-19. The following days will be marked by how the cyclone is placed, anticipating north-east also for Tuesday, rising in intensity, and rolling Wednesday to the south."

The Laser Radial fleet premiered the Kamakura race field and closed the first manga with Cristina Pujol's victory which, with a 23 in the second test, is located within Top10 with the eighth place of the general.
