The Barcelona regatta field has become an excellent host for the wedding sailboats on the second day of the XIV Regata Puig Vela Classica Barcelona, rewarding the fidelity of the sailors who have signed up for the annual meeting with the City Condal. The expected weather conditions have been met, which has made it possible to offer the excellent sports and cultural show that only this floating museum can offer.
The race committee today opted for a coastal tour through a series of beacons and six sections, initiated with a course of fencing. Then there were steps of cremated, through, dyed, dyed and a long end dyed to the finish, flattened in front of the beach of Barceloneta. The distance of the chosen route totaled 18 nautical miles.
Very intense was the departure of the Classics, with a hard struggle between the Bakea of Casanovas / Xufré, the Emeraude of Vittorio Cavazzana and the Yanira of Andrés León, ahead of the shooting of the Bakea, which had to return and retake the starting line. In the meantime, Damian Ribas's was taking more of them and avoiding possible detours.
The Uruguayan Fjord III of Scott Perry again won the game clearly to Islander Ricardo Albiñana on the exit of the Epoch. The South American crew reperformed an impeccable race, leaving their rival Barcelona without options. The difference of almost 18 minutes in the line of arrival, after having invested the leader 2: 57: 38 hours in completing the tour, became 11: 48 minutes of advantage over the Islander after the compensation of times.

The Puig Vela Classica race, a reference to the classic and Mediterranean time sailing, has started today in the waters of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB). More than 200 regatists on 15 boats have participated in one of the most beautiful marine shows of international nautical. In 2021 the race was reheld after the 2020 pause for the pandemic and ensuring maximum health measures.
After an equal departure in the fleet of Classics, they took the initiative in the beacon of dismantling the Emeraude (Germán Frers, 1976) of Vittorio Cavazzana, Yanira (Bjarnee Aas, 1954) of Andrés León, Alba (Phil Rodes, 1956) of Damián Ribas and Altamar (Alonso Allende, 1970) of Pedro Ramos. In the way to El Masnou the Altamar overtook the Alba, but an error in the operation of the spi and génova-plating operation delayed them considerably. Meanwhile, the flyboat and debutante in the Sea Fever race, by Enrique Curt, defended his minor length after a remarkable start.
The Emeraude completed the tour in the lead after 2: 23 hours, followed by the Yanira, Alba and Altamar. The formula to compensate the times of the ships was applied, the Yanira was won, accompanied on the podium of the day by the Alba at 1: 52 minutes and the Emeraude at 11: 28 minutes. In fourth position the Sea Fever was classified at 16: 32 minutes, and fifth the Altamar at 22: 09 minutes.
The category of Epoco Boats has had a clearer outcome, when already at the exit the Uruguayan team of Fjord III (German Frers, 1947) by Scott Perry clearly won the game to the Islander (Dickie & Sons) by Ricardo Albignana. Perry's people started their galopada towards the buoy de desmarque, where they already outnumbered the classics behind. In the stretch to EL Masnou, he continued to outdo classical competitors, while increasing his advantage over his rival Islander.
