The first team of the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife was established in the Canary Islands Championship

The Tierfeña fleet has stood out in Grancan waters this weekend, from the first qualifying day held on Friday, to the final that took place on Sunday at the marina of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, after staying with the first and second place of the competition. One of the two Tinean teams (the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife) has managed to position themselves in the first place during the championship after obtaining 5 wins of the 6 sleeves held in the first qualifying rounds and in the semi-final, as well as the final with the second team representing Tenerife, so they have remained unbeatable throughout the championship.

This second team, the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife 2, has been surprised in the semifinals by taking the final pass to the tanzaroteño team, which until that moment held the second place in the general classification. Each team has been made up of four regatists, two of each gender, who have initially competed in two qualifying Round Robin and then sailed towards the end of this Sunday, although it has been the two Teherphean teams that have managed to qualify.

In the third and fourth place are the teams representing Lanzarote; on the one hand, the group of the Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife, which has remained at the gates of the final, followed by the Club of Regats 4Winds, to which belong the Spanish champions of Optimist de sela, title they have obtained this same year.

This championship is just another example of how women's participation is increasingly representative in the art of sailing, with 50% of young Canaries between 6 and 15 years old, age range covering the Optimist modality, the most widespread and standardized type of sailing for the learning of children between 6 and 15 years old. "On this occasion, the teams were made up of two boys and two girls, but the female participation in the clubs and in the last competitions held is remarkable, even we celebrate" women's races "that have a very high percentage of participation," explains the technical director of the Canary Federation of Vela, an entity that has organized this championship, with the sponsorship of Naviera Armas. The results are available on the official website of the Canary Federation of Sailing.
