The negative evolution of the pandemic in the neighbouring country of Portugal, forces the organizers of the Jacobea O Cabaleiro das Cunchas Maritime Route to modify the ports of destination, changing the defeat from south to north, setting the limit in the city of A Coruña.
With a departure from the Bouzas Maritime Liceo on July 31, the first marine villa in which the fleet will arrive will be that of Muros, the end of the Rías Baixas and meet the mythical Costa da Morte, after 42 nautical miles.
On August 1, Camariñas will be the next port of destination, with a 35-mile route, a town of great tradition of palleiras and in which you will see a demonstration of its lace of Bolillo, to make the jump on the 2nd to the city of A Coruña, where the fleet will remain two days of rest in the Royal Navy, after having traveled 47 miles, adding a total of 124 miles that symbolize the equator of the sea pilgrimage.
After the well-deserved rest in the herculine city, the fleet of pilgrims to Santiago by sea, begins the descent, establishing the first port to the south in Muxia, with 47 miles of tour on August 4, where you will visit your famous church. The following 36 miles will take the ships to the Royal Nautico Club Portosin, inside the Ría de Muros and Noia, where they will remain another two nights when they will devote the day of August 6 to the transfer of the sailors to the top of the Milladeiro, from where on foot, they will arrive on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, in the same Cathedral the Mass of the Pilgrim to the Cabaleiros das Cunchas, organized by Tino Lores, president of the Portuguese Way Foundation and mentor of the Nautical Compostela.
On the 7th of August and with the satisfaction of meeting the Jacobea Maritime Trip, the fleet begins the return to Bouzas by stopping and founding in a Pobra do Caramiñal, with a distance of 29 miles, the last day being that of 8 August with which, after going through the last 30 miles, they will arrive at the destination of departure, the Bouzas Maritime Liceo.
On this last day and after having sailed 219 nautical miles, about 405 km., the Noble Hall of the Liceo will welcome the delivery of the Nautical Composels and the Diplomas to the pilgrims.
Based on the Boucense tradition recovered by one of his favorite children, Paulino Freire, the Route of O Cabaleiro das Cunchas is based on "The Traslatio" of the body of the Apostle James, reminiscent of the legend of the Cabaleiro das Cunchas, a medieval noble killed by a spear on the banks of Bouzas, succumbing to the life within its waters, and returned to it with the passage of the body of the Apostle, coming out of the sea to the loins of his horse covered with shells, giving himself the miracle to Santiago himself.
The deadline for registration on the Route is now open and can be managed in www.rutamaritimadocabaleiro.com or calling + 34 647671104.
