25 sailing and motor ships left on Wednesday from Baiona heading for Porto do Son on the I Rally Rías Baixas de Galicia, a nautical journey organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Real Club Nautico de Portosín to offer to the lovers of the nautical the possibility to make the Way of Santiago by sea.
The purpose of the navigation, which will continue until next Sunday, is to make known the charms of towns such as Baiona, Commud, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Muros and Portosin; rias of Vigo, Pontevedra, Arousa and Muros e Noia; or the archipelagos of Cíis, Ons and Sálvora. This is, in short, a group tour across the sea at some of the most prominent tourist points of the Galician Rías Baixas.
The four stages of navigation, from this Wednesday to Saturday, will be about 25 miles away and will be carried at an average of 4 knots, a relatively slow speed for participants to enjoy the tour and the views without haste.
After leaving Baiona, the sailboats will take a route on Wednesday to the inside of the Cis Islands, eat in a shelter area of the Pontevedra ria, and reach the Commud Navy at the end of the afternoon. They will spend the night there and on Thursday they will take a course to the navy of Pobra do Caramiñal, after sailing through the area of Ons and the river of Arousa.
The next scale will be the Marina de Muros, to which they will arrive after having reached the waters of the passage of Sagres and the vicinity of the lighthouse of Corrudo. On Saturday the 10th, the last day of navigation, the planned route goes from Muros to the Royal Nautical Club of Portosin, where the stages will end by sea.
On Sunday 11th, the sailors who want to complete the Muros and Noia Sea Road and win the Jubilee will be able to go by bus to the final section of the route and walk the last 10 kilometres to the Galician capital. A distance that, along with the 100 nautical miles by sea, will allow them to get the Compostela.
