The ship of the Marítimo de Santander was made with the thirty-seventh edition of the Costa Vasca Regata after the final tour in the bay of San Sebastián is cancelled for lack of wind

The Impredigital of the Royal Maritime Club of Santander, with Juan Bedia as the patron, noted the thirty-seventh edition of the Costa Vasca Regata - the Golden Whale Trophy... after winning on the 50-mile coastal tour between Getxo and San Sebastián, because the barlovento-sotavento in donostiar waters that was to decide this prestigious meeting of the Cantabric had to be cancelled this Sunday by the committee for lack of wind.

After the cantabrian crew, the Mikel Emaldi Vizcino Maitena, Silver Whale after the 2020 Gold; and Luis Noguera's Asturian Bullbox, Bronze Whale were classified after winning a week earlier in the Bizkaia Championship. The Costa Vasca Regata, one of the most outstanding sailing tests in the north since 1992, was decided with the first coastal tour that included night navigation.

The Maitena had been the first ship to reach the San Sebastián line of arrival after 13 hours and seven minutes of navigation. The Vizcaine crew won in the Regata class with the Asturian Bullbox of Puerto Ria de Avilés in the second square and the Gaitero of Juan Valdivia in the third position after the corrected time.

The Akelarre of Mauricio Guibert was fourth and the Rat Pack of Javier-varri fifth, with the Symphony patrolled by Álvaro Rubio sixth, the Tchin Tchin José Luis Ribed seventh and the Alpega of Alfonso Churuca eighth in this class.

On the other hand, the Juan Bedia Impredigital, the winner of the Golden Whale in this 30th edition, arrived in San Sebastián a real time of 14 hours and 22 minutes between the town of Vizcana and the gipuzcoana, with the Kenex V of Ignacio Giménez of the Nautico de Laredo in second position and the Kohen vizcañno of Juan Carlos Estefania in third place and award to the crew with more female members.

2021 / 06 / 30: The Costa Vasca Regata on its 30th birthday... leaves Getxo for San Sebastián

The Vasca Coast, again leaving Getxo after hosting the test in 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2020, celebrates its thirty-first birthday with the usual competitive level

The Costa Vasca-Golden Whale Regata, in its thirty-seventh edition, is again one of the most outstanding competitions, for cruises and monotypes of those organized in the Cantabric.

It will be two days of navigation in which the Golden Whale will leave Getxo, the day after Friday with a 50-mile coastal race to the Gipuzcoan capital with exit at three in the afternoon.

The final in San Sebastián, already on Sunday with a barlovento-sotavento at one o'clock in the afternoon, coinciding with the 125th anniversary of the Royal Nautical Club of San Sebastián.

The participating cruises will establish during these two days their time and final positions in the Cantabrian Sea, with about 20 crews that aim to get the precious Whale on a sailing appointment for the Regata, Cruise I, Cruise II and the uncertified class.

Last year, the 'Maitena' vizcadino of Mikel Emaldi in the Regata class - tied to points with the 'Tchin Tchin' -, the 'Aizen' cantabre of Gustavo Arce in the Cruise class I, and the 'Etnia Barcelona', patronized by Peru Múgica, in the J80 division, managed to point to the absolute victory. Among the entries for this edition are the 'Maitena', 'Rat Pack', 'Tchin Tchin', 'Akelarre', 'Alpega', 'Gaitero', 'Bullbox' (recent winner of the Bizkaia Championship), 'Kenex V', 'Ramper', 'Kohen' or 'Tximista'.
