The 5th Kayak de Mar World Championship will be held from 4 to 6 July on the coast of Lanzarote, between Arrieta and Arrecife, with the participation of more than 200 palists representing 26 nations.

The tour of the test will take the athletes from the beach of La Garita (Haria) in the north of the island to the beach of El Reducto (Arrecife), which means a distance of 27 kilometres.

A good number of the palists registered at the Kayak de Mar World Cup have been training for several weeks on the Canary Islands, including the German team podium candidates Gordan Harbrecht and the Spanish Walter Bouzán, Amaia Osaba and Chloe Bunnett, who have valued the quality of the island's weather conditions for this test.

The palists will have to go to the Islot de la Fermina, the venue of the competition, to collect their credits on July 1 and 2, and the competition window is open from July 4 to 6 to assess the weather situation that allows the test to develop.

The Pyragüists will conduct on July 3 two official training in morning and afternoon hours, which will take place on the beach of El Reducto, and will end that day with the opening ceremony that will take place at the headquarters of the competition.

The 2005 Kayak World Championship of Sea, with the endorsement of the International Federation of Piragüism, is organized by the Spanish Federation of Piragüism and the Marlines Club, along with the Canary Federation of Piragüism.

Lanzarote faces the organization of the world competition with the experience it provides it to have carried out the four editions of the Atlantic Ocean Surfski, a competition of international prestige converted into the antecedent of the Kayak de Mar World Championship, with which the Canary Island culminates the project that places it as a reference in this specialty.
