The K2 of the Club La Ribera Oviedo of Kayak, with Samuel García of brand and Fernándo Fernández, was declared the absolute winner of the first edition of the Gold River Race Xacobeo 21-22 that ended on Sunday afternoon in Salvaterra de Miño, certifying a success that has shown that the one that is already the longest race in Europe among the supermarathons, has come to stay. Among the women, the children of the Kayak Tudense: Tania Fernandes and Carmen Villar, won with full authority.

The great favorite for the final victory was the Pontevedresa crew of Club Piragüismo Olívico and the Verducido Piragüismo: the Spanish-Mascato with Ivan Alonso and Joaquín Iglesias... but a hit against a rock in Frieira left him with the rudder destroyed and had to retire.

Then came the closing ceremony in which the "Finished Medal" was delivered, the medals that certify the brave who have managed to register for the first time their names in the Gold River Race... after the different awards and for the use of the award to the City of Lugo, of the flag that certifies that in 2022 the Lucus of Augustus will be the one to see to go to Salvatura de Miño, the second edition of the "regata of the Galegos ouro rivers...." The crew of the Mascato-Spain with the world brand trichampeon and the tusdense Ivan Alonso and the pontevedrés Joaquín Iglesias, continues as leader of the Gold River Race Xacobeo 21-22 that today will live its third and final stage with the Stretch of Pontevedra in play... between Crecente and Salvaterra de Miño, and start at 11: 30 in the morning.

At last after many years of projects and illusions, by the hand of the Marítimo de Vigo Club, the Club de Piragüismo Olívico, by the hand of the Galician Federation of Piragüismo and with the support of the Bouzas Maritime Liceo, the Club Marítimo de Vigo and several clubs riverside of the Sil and Miño rivers... the idea of a super marathon race that would pass through Galicia has come true.

On Friday at 10: 00 in the morning with British punctuality the fleet of palists registered at the Gold River Race Xacobeo 21-22, from the spectacular tentage that forms the incomparable Sil in the Quiroga concello, in Aguasmestas in the province of Lugo... began their walk on the Ribeira Sacra, to reach the edge of two and a half of the afternoon Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil in Nogueira de Ramin, already in the province of Ourense.

Meteorology joined the feast of Iberian piragüism in terms of super marathon races: sun, high temperatures and not a drop of wind. After a departure in which several authorities, including the President of the Dependation of Lugo, Jose Tomé Roca, the mayor of Quiroga Julio Alvarez and the Xunta of Galicia Javier Arias; and in which a large public was established, the race west to Santo Estevo was beautiful among the cannons of the Sil and very fast.

The couple pontevedresa, the Spanish-Mascato team, with the world tricampeon Ivan Alonso de Marca and the young pontevedrés Joaquín Iglesias, always dominated in the head of the fleet, being able to impose on the two flying goals, that of Monforte de Lemos and that of Sober. After them were very glued (in the end there was a second among them) the lusitan kayak of Nogueira and Lomba of the Braga Club.

The third square for Pigueiras and Carreja de Viveiro, the rooms being the Arosanos Barreiro and Palmas... and the fifth the ovens García and Fernández.

For the second day Saturday with start at the Central de Velle in the eastern area of Ourense capital, with start at 12.30. 2021 / 06 / 24: The longest super maraton race in Europe begins in Quiroga... the Gold River Race

Tomorrow Friday begins in the municipality of Quiroga, which houses the legendary Roman tunnel of Montefurado, the first edition of the Gold River Race Xacobeo 21-22... a super maraton of piragüismo, which with its 100 kilometers of length, will be the test of the longest speciality at European level in history.

The event is organized by the Marítimo de Vigo and the Club de Piragüismo Olívico with the support of the Galician Federation and that of the Real Federación Española de Piragüismo... and that of the nautical clubs Liceo Marítimo de Bouzas, Club Marítimo de Canido, and other clubs riverside of the Sil and Miño rivers.

The event that bears the name of "the rivers of gold," recalls the birth of Galicia as a separate Roman province of Lusitania, in the time of the Emperor Augustus and to which he gave a special prominence in those years, in which thanks to the auriferous riches especially of its rivers Sil and Miño, he economically endured many tens of years the Roman Empire.

For this reason, the event wants to give a special prominence to the enclaves of this far-off epoch, the case of the Leoness Médals that is under study to house the exit in 2023, or to the capital of Lugo itself, which has a unique Roman walls in the world, which already sounds like the beginning of 2022.

So suddenly the organizers, despite the health situation we are suffering, have not wanted to delay the start of the Gold River Race... in this first edition due to this circumstance. Because the organizers trust that using this year, is to gain it as an experience; for a major project has never been undertaken and the first edition will be very useful, in order to be able to face much more spectacular editions in the short term.

The competition is open to K2 and despite the hardness of the test the participation of female K2 is already guaranteed. Among the first is the three-time world champion and five European Ivan Alonso, who will sail with Joaquín Iglesias who is currently the champion of Spain... both start as favorites.

Among the girls will be on the line of departure the Spanish crew with a brand of luxury: the Tania Fernández García-Carmen Villar Varela... the two Lugan palists compete for the Kayak Tudense, and in the case of Tania has a European bronze and two metals in two worlds: silver and bronze.

They are the great favorites of the K2's Abanca Trophy with female crew. Carmen Villar has a great future and carries the pyragüism in her genes... as she is the daughter of the Olympic Luzense Angel Villar "Chilares."

The first stage that bears the name of Trofeo Receptación de Lugo will have about 40 km, with exit from Aguasmestas (at the mouth of the Lor River in the Sil) and destination to the Ribeira Sacra in its purest essence: the enchorus of Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil.

The game will be at the edge of 10: 00 in the morning. The initial journey was about a half a hundred Km, but it was chosen to remove from the program the portage in the vicinity of Os Peares (where Miño and Sil are joined), because given the length of this reservoir, it was too long and hard.

The opening stage will have in its final part two flying goals: those of Monforte de Lemos and Sober, which have financial endowment donated by the two concels... for the first three classified from each of the male and female categories.
