The Jacobea Maritime Route more cross-border with the neighbouring country of Portugal already has date of departure, leaving from the docks of Bouzas on July 31 to travel, between the two countries, more than 300 nautical miles, about 555 km that have as the end of pilgrimage the Compostelan Plaza del Obradoiro and the Ofrenda to the Apostle Santiago.

Based on the Boucense tradition recovered by one of his favorite children, Paulino Freire, the Route of O Cabaleiro das Cunchas is based on the Traslatio of the body of the Apostle Santiago, he rememorizes the legend of the Cabaleiro das Cunchas, a medieval noble killed by a spear on the banks of Bouzas, succumbing to the life within its waters, and returned to it with the passage of the body of the Apostle, leaving the sea to the loins of his horse covered with shells, attributing himself to the miracle to Santiago himself.

This year's is the first tenth, an edition that could not be held last year because of the pandemic and now, with the light at the end of the tunnel, it is reinstating strength. Not in vain, the International Tourism Fair, was its presentation framework with a Madrina de Honor, the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, who came to comment that La Ruta Marítima O Cabaleiro das Cunchas is a good example of that spirit we share, that of the illusion of living the road and that of living the Xacobea culture.

Cities such as Povoa de Varzim, Aveiro, Vila Nova de Gaia (the southernmost below Porto), Viana do Castelo, Baiona or Portosín make up the wide nautical trip, and it has the collaboration of all the municipalities in which the fleet of ships will arrive to their respective ports.

The O Cabaleiro das Cunchas Maritime Route has been held since 2010, promoted by the Association of Friends of the Maritime Route, with the sponsorship of Plan Xacobeo 21-22 and the S4 Insurance Correduria, joining Portugal with Galicia to take the pilgrims to Santiago, encouraging the Compostela that is given to them in the same Cathedral, after the celebration of the Mass and the Blessing.

The deadline for registration on the Route is now open and can be managed in www.rutamaritimadocabaleiro.com or calling 647 671 104.
