Carlos Sanlorenzo, Secretary General of the Spanish nautical sector, re-elected Vice President and Treasurer of EBI

The EBI General Assembly (European Boating Industry) was held, of which ANEN is a member, during which the new Council was elected to lead the European nautical industry association over the next two years.

The Secretary General of ANEN, Carlos Sanlorenzo, has been re-elected Vice-President and Treasurer, and will continue his office until 2023, having an important role in the decision-making of EBI, together with the President-elect, Jean-Pierre Goudant, President of the Federation of Nautical Industries of France (FIN), and also the Vice-President, Anne- Marie Bouweraert, representative of NAUTIBEL (Belgian Federation of Water Sports and Recreational Navigation Organizations).

The Assembly addressed the progress made for the European nautical industry in the first half of this year, including the support of the European institutions for the recovery of nautical activities in the 2021 season. In particular, the incorporation in the Blue Economy report of the EBI study on the impact of COVID '19 on recreational navigation and the new strategy for the Sustainable Blue Economy were highlighted.

The action of EBI in relation to US tariffs on steel and aluminium was also addressed, the result of which no new tariffs have been applied for ships exported to the EU from the US, nor have existing tariffs doubled.

The policies on tourism, the recycling of end-of-life recreational craft, the consequences of Brexit, VAT rates, the European Green Deal to curb climate change and the revision of the European directive on nautical activity under way were other issues under discussion.
