Nautica Digital Europe Highlights Routes Tourism

Thanks to the collaboration between Sailway and the Association of Nautical Clubs of Galicia, ASNAUGA, a unique and different way of making the pilgrimage to Santiago is born.

The Xacobea Nautical Trip is officially recognized to obtain the Compostela, by visiting some of the most emblematic corners of the Rías Baixas.

The rules approved by the Cabildo Catedral of the Cathedral of Santiago to obtain the Compostela require us to comply with the following requirements:

- First, to carry and seal the Credential of the Pilgrim, a document valid for those who make the Way with a Christian sense, even if only in a search attitude.

- It is also necessary to make a journey of at least 90 nautical miles and to seal the credential in all the ports that mark the route.

- Finally, to complete the road, the last kilometers to Santiago will be on foot, sealing the credential in the town of Bertamirans and in the office of the Pilgrim once we reach the city of the Apostle.

The route Baiona- Portosin-Santiago will leave the port of Baiona on June 14, the scheduled route will be: visit on the 14 morning to the Maritime Club of Canido, Real Club Náutico de Vigo, transfer to the Mount Real Club of Yates and departure by sea, passing through the R.C.N de Vigo, view to the Maritime Liceo of Bouzas, R.C.N. de Rodeira, R.C.N de Sanxenxo, C.N de Portonovo, Marina Vilanova, C.N.D de Riveira and R.C.N. de Portosin, arriving at the 17th of June.

Asnauga was a pioneer in the organization and realization of the first International Maritime Pilgrimage in 2014, and has since continued to enhance these two routes in different national and international forums.

The Xacobea Nautical Route project aims to enhance and rescue this road by sea, a path of pilgrimage, which already began in the Middle Ages, and which wants to combine and join religiosity, with nautical tourism, following the ancient maritime path that the Apostle James made, as well as the pilgrims of the Middle Ages who came to venerate it, with the intention of promoting, spreading and sharing the spirit of the Way of Santiago among the people of the sea.

We seek to consolidate as a further route of pilgrimage, raising awareness and spreading among European and other sailors the unique characteristics of our Atlantic facade, of our marinas, to reach Santiago de Compostela, to highlight our gastronomy, landscape, the maritime heritage, the Galician culture and to help protect the environment of the peoples by which this Xacobea sea road runs.
