Spain achieves a gold medal, plus two silver... and two paracanoe
The Spanish team has closed with 3 medals in Esprint and 2 in Paracanoe their participation in the European Championship, which has been held since last Thursday in the Polish city of Poznan, with the presence of 600 sportsmen from 35 countries, with no public in the steps of the regatta field of Lake Malta due to the pandemic.
The Spanish team, with the absence of the palists who will be Olympic in Tokyo 2020, has obtained in Esprint two gold medals: Alberto Pedrero and Pablo Graña in C2 200 and Joan Toni Moreno in C1 200, and one silver: Begoña Lazkano and Laia Pelachs in K2 1,000 meters. In Paracanoe the two medals, both of which are silver, have corresponded to Adrián Mosquera in VL3 and Higinio Rivero in VL2.
In the closing session, the current world champions of C2 200 - Pedrero and Grañ- have increased their palmarés with the continental title achieved in the Polish city of Poznan, when the final was awarded after leading the race throughout the course (36,900).
The remaining result was the fourth place in K1 200 of Juan Oriyés (35,567); the seventh in C2 200 with María Pérez and Patricia Coco (48,601); two octaves in C2 1,000 with Noel Dominguez and David Barreiro (3: 57,269) and K4 500 with Sara Ouzande, Miriam Vega, Laia Pelachs and Carolina García (1: 37,532); and the ninth in K2 200 with Teresa Tirado and Mireia Vázquez (39,858).
In addition, the Olympic champion Cristian Toro, along with Pelayo Roza, have won the final B of K2 500 (1: 32,237) while Laura Pedruelo has finished fourth in that of K1 500 (2: 00.966).
In the final about 5,000 meters, in K1 Javi López has finished eighth (21: 13,253) and Eva Barrios, seventh (23: 59,662) and in C1, Diego Romero has done fourth (23: 52,337) and Ana Barea, ninth (29: 46,871).

The Mallorquin Joan Toni Moreno has today been proclaimed the champion of Europe in C1 200 meters in the penultimate day of the European Championship, in which the Spanish selection accumulates 4 medals, after having won yesterday 3 silver, one in esprint achieved by Begoña Lazkano and Laia Pelachs in K2 1,000 meters, and another 2 in paracanoe, obtained by Adrián Mosquera in VL3 and Higinio Rivero in VL2.
In the other 6 finals with Spanish participation 3 boats have been left at the doors of the podium: the K1 1,000 of Laura Pedruelo (4: 20,285), the K2 200 of Kike Adam and Carlos Borrás (33,843) and the K4 500 of Carlos Garrote, Albert Martí, Juan Oriyés and Cristian Toro (1: 25,753)... have finished octavos the K1 1,000 of Roi Rodríguez (3: 51,763) and the C2 500 of Julia Espinosa and Ana Barea (2: 21,931).
In the three final paracanoe Juan Valle has finished fourth in KL3 (42,850), and in the seventh position Inés Felipe (1: 02.203) and Adrián Castaño (58.258).

The competition has ended in semi-finals for the C1 1,000 of Ignacio Calvo, sixth (4: 13,681); the K2 1,000 of Pedro Vázquez and Roi Rodríguez, fourth (3: 27,967); the C1 500 of Ignacio Calvo, eighth (2: 04.502) and the K2 500 of Carolina García and Sara Ouzande, ninth (2: 05.207). In paracanoe, Spain closes the day with 2 medals obtained by Adrián Mosquera in VL3 and Higinio Rivero in VL2. Javier Reja has also been ninth in the final of VL3 and Mosquera himself has not been able to overcome the semi-final of KL3, in which he finished fifth.
Tomorrow Saturday, the last day of the European, with 7 Spanish finalists in esprint and 3 in paracanoe, is disputed.

The European Championship of Piragüism has started today in the Polish city of Poznan with the Spanish selection of Piragüismo by classifying 2 boats for the end of Esprint and 3 in Paracanoe, which together with the direct finals allow you to have 8 options of medals tomorrow.
Tomorrow Friday, the five final vessels in esprint are K2 1,000, Begoña Lazkano-Laia Pelachs, at 14: 06; K4 1,000-Pol Busquets, Iago Monteagua, Alberto Llera and Javier López (14: 17h); C1 500, Julia Espinosa (14: 32h); C2 500, Adrián Sieiro- Antoni Moreno (14: 47h), and K1 500, Kike Adam (15: 02h)... in paracanoe there will be double representation in Spanish in the final of the Vizarra (2: 12h) and Vizará (2: 12h).
In the opening session of the European meeting, 11 vessels have competed, 2 of them, the K1 500 of Kike Adam (1: 45.212) and the C2 500 of Adrián Sieiro and Antoni Moreno (1: 47.856) have obtained place for the final, when they are left first and second, respectively.

The Olympic champion Cristian Toro of the Lugo River Club leads the Spanish team that will compete in the European Championship of Esprint and Paracanoe 2021, which is held from tomorrow to next Sunday in the Polish city of Poznan, with the participation of 600 palists from 35 countries.
The European, the last major international competition before the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, will have the esprint tests on the distances of 200, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 meters while paracanoe will be over 200 meters, with 13 European countries fighting for the medals.
