The Spanish champion Fernando Bentiz favorite in the Autonomous Canary of Optimist

Fernando Benítez, belonging to the 4 Wind Regatas Club, is the current champion of Spain in this sailing mode, but this aroteño will be measured this weekend in La Palma in the male category sub 16 with the rest of Canarian regatists. The island of La Palma will hold for the first time a Championship of the Canary Islands of the Optimist class, in which there will be a meeting of about a hundred regatists belonging to the elite of the children's candle throughout the archipelago... the base sailing event is organized by the Royal Nautical Club of La Palma, and it is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of La Palma.
This will be one of the most representative of the optimal class, since they have formalized the registration of the royal nautical clubs of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Arrecife, in addition to the Regatas Club 4 Winds (Lanzarote), the Mar Radazul Club (Tenerife), the Nautical Jandia Peninsula Club (Fuerteventura), the Sports Club Code Zero (Lanzarote) and Nautical Activities of Tenerife.
In representation of the island of Tenerife, there are regatists such as Sofia Hernández and Marta Mansito (who will compete in the female categories) and Ernesto Saavedra, Gervasio Caballero and Joaquín Saavedra for the male categories. From Gran Canaria there are also numerous regatists willing to fight for the Trophy 30 May Day of the Canary Islands such as Patricia Caballero, Miguel Padron, Pablo Tejera, Jaime Lang Lenton, Jorge Sosa or Miguel Méndez.
The palmera representation, attached to the Canary Federation of Vela and with the sponsorship of the Cabildo de La Palma, will be composed of: Aulis Pursino, Claudia Concepción, Ezekiel González, Kuan Deutschen, Mario Suárez and Valeria Diaz, who together with their coaches Pacuco Díaz, María Jiménez and Carlos López have carried out a hard preparation that has included long days of navigation with all kinds of weather conditions.
