Full success of La Regata del Vino in La Coruña

Antonio Núñez, master of the Raygrass III ship of the Cabrumeiro Nautical Club, achieved 111 bottles as winner of the Regata del Vino Benito Santos, which he organized from the Real Club Nautico de La Coruña.

These 111 bottles, of albariño, mencía and godello of the winery located in Vilanova de Arousa are equivalent to the 110 kilos declared of this pattern, which competed with another 19 cruises in a race that was very fast... with an average of 18 knots but with peaks of 25, and along a route of just over 13 miles.

The Raygrass III made a real time of 2 hours and 20 minutes, but in compensated time it remained below two hours, which finally gave him the victory.

In real time the Lambaix of Antonio Ríos entered first position.

In the ORC class, the winner was the "Eleko Mambo," patronized by Carlos Sampedro of La Penela, while in the ORC class, the winner was the Jose Naya Golfiño of the Nautical Ria de Ares.

After the forced absence of 2020... the Wine Regata returns from the hand of Benito Santos

On Saturday there will be the second edition of the Regata Benito Santos de Vela Pesada... 25 ships that will travel 17 miles along the Gulf Artabre. The first edition, held in 2019 - which last year could not be carried out by the pandemic - was a complete success of both the participation of regatists and the awards given. All the awards were bottles of Albariño wine and the maximum beneficiary was the patron David Rivero, the absolute winner, who took his weight in wine (total 89 bottles)

The Benito Santos winery, located in Vilanova de Arousa, is considered one of the best in Albariño, has a production of 100,000 bottles and 90 percent of its production is for export, especially to the United States, Canada and half of Europe. This sponsorship is due to the management of Miguel Fernández, a regular regatist in the Club's tests... the second edition of this race in the annual calendar of the Coruñés Nautico, the organizer of the test, consolidates the event at this end of spring because it serves to set up the ships for the summer. It is estimated that in addition to the weight of the winning pattern and the gifts to the winners in each class and to all the participants in the Wine Regata will be distributed about 300 bottles.
