2021 / 05 / 29: The Swan 45 Witch first cruise in Sant Antoni of Portmany after 28 hours of race

Alberto Castro and his crew have been able to make the most of this difficult situation of sailing with little wind and have reached Sant Antoni de Portmany with quite an advantage over their rivals, which makes them think they can be the absolute winners of the Denia fleet as their most direct competitors are still far away

The Swan 45 Brujo of Alberto de Castro, has been the first to enter the line of arrival of the Route of Sal 2021, after just over 28 hours of very hard navigation on the Canal of Denia and the circumvalation to the Pituises, due to the lack of wind with which the regatists have found themselves in this edition of the Route of Sal 2021.

The men of Alberto de Castro have overcome the challenge of being the first to cross in real time in this test, which has tested the ability of the sailors, since the entire fleet, both those who have left Barcelona and those of Denia, have found themselves in exasperating conditions, given the lack of wind throughout the Western Mediterranean.

On Friday night, in the approach to Cape Berbería, Brujo already managed to make an important difference over his most competitive persecutors such as the Foxy Lady, the IMX 45 of Klaus Bauer, the Clem, the Swan 56 of Jaime Olazabal or the Nautic Café of the Sea, the Sword 34 of Javier Rabelo.

At 15: 30 on Saturday 28, 10 cruises from the Denia version have not yet thrown the towel, and continue to fight the calm with the desire to cross the line of arrival. The challenge of patience and nerves posed by the lack of wind for the regatists has made it difficult in the rest of the fleet that has declared its withdrawal to put engine and reach port or to anchor in some of the beautiful coves of Ibiza.

For its part, the fleet of the Barcelona version, whose tour was cut in anticipation of the unfavorable conditions for sailing, slowly progresses towards Sant Antoni de Portmany in Ibiza. The Flomali 2, Alex Staring's Swan 60, and the Gymir, Manel Codina's Maxi Dolphin 65, lead the fleet, followed by David Tur's Atlant del Vent, David Tur's IMX 45, Yellow Rose, X-35 Marten Jan Ringers and Marjuin, Pere Roquet's Grad Soleil 50.

The first of the Barcelona version is 34 miles from the arrival, and considering the wind conditions they are expected to reach from 12: 00 at night and throughout the morning. The time limit for all ships is set at 11 a.m. on Sunday, 30 May and the trophy ceremony will be held on the same Sunday at 12 noon.

Garmin, the official electronics and sponsor of the Salt Route, will offer the winners of the mythical high race the precious quatix ® 6x Solar watches, as a sign of their victory. 2021 / 05 / 28: The 100 ships of Lassal are expected at mid-morning of Saturday in Ibiza

Departure from Denia, with a wind from North, of an intensity between 4 and 5 knots, allowed the ships, to advance NE direction along the Ibiza Canal to the Iberian destinations, with a soft wind from through and to the quartering (Photo Paola Silvestre)

The Ruta de la Sal, the high Mediterranean regatta that has as its destination the island of Ibiza, has already taken off ties... Denia's version came out at the scheduled time, from the facilities of the Denia Nautico,

The barometric low formed in the area of Palos and Mar de Alboran, has allowed the Regata Committee of the East version to give the exit. With this circumstance it is expected that the turbulence of the low will cause navigable winds in the southern part of the island of Ibiza and that it will allow the navigation of the 50 sailing boats that cover this alicantine saline.

Very different has been the long one from Port Ginesta... here, a very stable barometric swamp, especially in the middle of the Canal between the Balearic Islands and the Iberian peninsula, recommended to the North Region Committee, change the navigation program and establish a conserved navigation link between Port Ginesta and Cabo Tortosa to from here to give the sail, today at 20: 00 hours scheduled this afternoon.

It is expected that throughout the Saturday day, the entire fleet of La Sal will be tied in the pants of the CN Sant Antoni of Portmany. The first to arrive will be those registered in the Mini Sal, leaving Denia and with the shortest route, as they cover a distance of approximately 55 nautical miles. The rest of the fleet is expected to reach the uinisono to Sant Antonio, as with the cut of about 55 miles of the participants in the North Version, in principle this route has 140 miles, will balance the times of the tour with those of the version.

A total of 100 vessels will participate in this edition of LaSal 2021. Half will leave Denia and the other half of Port Ginesta

Intense day of registration of ships and crews for the thirty-third edition of La Ruta de la Sal... with conditions that are not presumed to be favourable, in the North Mediterranean... so the Regata Committee has agreed to make a change of navigation in the stretch of Port Ginesta to Sant Antoni Portmany, consisting of the fleet leaving in conserved, at eight o'clock, until reaching the buoy of the Delta del Ebro, for once there, to set a direct direction to Sant Antoni, and to take advantage of the wind that will be in that area.

This is because there is a barometric swamp in the northern part of the Balear Sea, where the first stretch of the race leaving Port Ginesta is developed and a thermal low in the southern part of the Mediterranean, which affects the crews leaving Denia, and where there is more wind. This, more favourable at wind level, makes the exit from Denia not altered, keeping the exit as scheduled at 11: 00.
