The Madrid International Tourism Fair today hosted the presentation of the European Championship of the class 6 Metros to be held in Sanxenxo next September and whose organizer is the Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo. The event was attended by the Vice President of the Xunta (Alfonso Rued-), the Director of Tourism of Galicia (Nava Castro-), the Director of Private Banking of ABANCA (Javier River-) and the director of the race (César Elizag-), who highlighted the importance of the championship within the tourist offer offered by Sanxenxo and Galicia.

Sanxenxo is already the epicenter of the class 6 Metros in Spain, and from September of this year until June of 2022 will also be the European and world sailing, first with the European dispute from 10 to 18 September and then in June of 2022 with the World Championship.

The Vice President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, wanted to highlight in his statement that "the RCNS is a reference of know-how to do the great events, so they always reach great competitions and that is a reference for Galicia and as not the Xacobeo has to be in 2021 and 2022 with its two great tests that will help to depark tourism."

The European Championship will be the first major international sailing event to take place in Galicia following the cancellation in 2020 of all international citations due to the pandemic, thus re-increasing the pulse to sport, promotion and tourist deparking, one of the guidelines for the choice of dates for both events. Thus, Sanxenxo will receive from June to September the fleet of 50 planned teams, not only European but also from other parts of the world.

The "Bribon 500" by José Cusí, representing the Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo, will be the defender of both titles after having proclaimed the European champion in La Trinité-sur-Mer (France) in 2018 and the world champion in Hanko (Finland) in 2019.

The Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo will host this weekend, May 22 and 23, the second test of the Spanish Cup circuit, which will meet some of the teams that are already preparing for the European Championship of next September's class.
