David Barreiro hastens his last choice to get in Tokyo
The Galician David Barreiro, in C1 1,000 meters, hastens in the global classification that is held this week in Barnaul (Russia) the last square for Tokyo, for whose Olympic Games Spain already has 11 boats classified - 7 in esprint and 4 in slalon- as well as 5 in Paralympics.
The practice of all the members of the national team delegation that competed last week in Szeged (Hungary) at the I World Cup 2011 has now returned to their usual training places, after completing their participation with the 4-medal loot, to which added the obtaining of 3 classifications for the Olympic Games and 5 places for Paralympic Games.
The winners of the three gold medals are the K4 500, composed of Saul Craviotto, Marcus Cooper Walz, Carlos Arévalo and Rodrigo Germade; the K2 500 of Walz and Germade, and the C2 500 of Tano García and Pablo Martínez, to which is added the silver of Antana Jácome and Antana Otero, in C2 200.
Spain will compete in the JJOO with 11 boats: 7 in esprint; Teresa Portela (K1 200); Carlos Arévalo (K1 200); Paco Cubelos-Iñigo Peña (K2 1,000) and Saul Craviotto, Marcus Cooper Walz, Carlos Arévalo and Rodrigo Germade (K4 500). To these are added the 3 that now obtained the pass in the European classification: Isabel Contreras (K1 500); María Corbera (C1 200) and Tano García and Pablo Martínez (C2 1,000). In slalon they will: Maialen Chourraut (K1), Nuria Vilarubla (C1), David Llorente (K1) and Ander Elosegi (C1).
The Spanish representation in the JJPP will be held by Higinio Rivero (VL2), Juan Valle (KL3), Adrián Castaño (KL1), Adrián Mosquera (VL3) and Inés Felipe (KL2), the last 3 achieved it last week in the paracanoe classification held in Szeged.
