The International Union of Motoronautics, based in Monaco, following the telematics meeting with the members of its Technical Committee, has reorganized the competition calendar of this season, an adjustment in destinations, categories and dates, which has been changing and evolving in parallel with the current global pandemic situation.

Among the recent confirmations has been the ratification of the concession to Baiona of the celebration of one of the two tests of the European Endurance Championship, together with the Italian city of Ravenna, to the north of the country, off the coast of Croatia, bathed by the Adriatic Sea, from which the villa of the Val Miñor will be closed from the continental.

The UIM also grants Baiona one of the three tests of the Endurance World Championship, being an equator between the first to host the Italian city of Rodi Gargánico, with waters of the Adriatic Sea that shares off the coast of Montenegro, and the third, in the Malagueña Benalmádena.

The new Endurance categories will be released at Baiona: Boat Production 300 (B), Promotion 150 (P) and Sport 450 (S).

Galicia has extensive experience in this type of boat. Not in vain Vigo hosted a test of the European in the Marisquiño of 2017 and Sanxenxo was also unique enclave of the continental, in 2019. But it had never been possible so far for a Spanish town to host a European and a world.

The initial forecast is that of a fortnight of boats, with pilots who will be ambassadors of countries such as Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, England, Italy, France, Portugal, Kuwait and, of course, Spain which has a wide representation among which are highlighted by Viguese pilots, such as Keko Pereira or José and Yeray Lorenzo, who have already tasted the milles of the pods of the continent.

The Endurance is a type of boat that has a length of approximately 5 to 9 meters, engines that reach a speed of 70-80 knots (about 130-150 km / h.) and a crew composed of pilot and co-pilot... the competition takes place in a circuit mounted by buoys and the exits of each sleeve are launched, that is, in progressive speed.
