Victories of Fhimasa, Alpega, Nexus and Rooster in the Social Trophy of the Abra Maritime
The 3rd Social Trophy, organized by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, ended with very little wind in the tests that the committee was able to schedule in the Vizcaina waters of the Abra for the Cruise classes as well as for the ships of the J80 division. This championship saw as final winners the Alpega of Alfonso Churruca in Regata, the Javier Trueba 'Nexus' in Cruciero I, the Miguel Arriola 'Rooster' in Cruciero II and the 'Fhimasa Escuela de Vela José Luis de Ugarte' of Tomas Trueba among the J80 monotypes. The last day of navigation was very complicated in a day with little wind.
In the Regata class, the "Alpega 'of Alfonso Churruca, a Mumm 30, was made with the final victory, tied to 4 points with the" Akelarre' of Mauricio Guibert, because it was imposed on the previous day after the last tour had to be cancelled. On the other hand, the 'Nexus' was a clear favorite in the Cruise I class and finally took 9 points to the 'Bacilón' of José Miguel Franco, which was imposed on the last 3-mile test.
The same happened in Cruise II, with the 'Rooster' (10 points) as the final winner with its first two positions in the previous days. The 'Blai' of Iñigo Aldea (11 points) and the 'Kohen' of Juan Carlos Estefanía (12 points) followed him in the classification, after being first and second in the closure of the competition.
There was much emotion in the J80 class, in which the 'Fhimasa Escuela de Vela José Luis de Ugarte' of Tomás Trueba maintained his leadership with a point of advantage over the 'Mandovi' of Ramón Zubiaga, the ship that questioned the title to the end. The third in the general ended the 'Fingolfin' of Gonzalo Miguvarri, following the only tour of the last day of the 3rd Social Trophy won by the 'Biobizz' of José Azqueta, with the 'Dorsia' of Ana Pujol second.
The Las Arenas club now focuses on the 'II International Women's Sailing Cup' that will take place at the Open on the weekend of May 29 and 30.
