Nine Spanish sports federations at the Symposium of the Water Games
The Spanish Sports Association with the Government of the Murcia Region have presented the Water Games, the first to be held in Spain at an unprecedented event related to the aquatic environment and its values. 10 Spanish Sports Federations join under the umbrella of ADEP to celebrate 14 Spanish Championships from 22 September to 2 October 2022 on the Costa Callida.
A total of 3,000 athletes will be appointed for a macro event where 9,000 people are expected to interact and which will generate an impact of 10 million euros.
This II Symposium is held from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14 May in Los Alcázares (Murcia) and has three working days where issues as important as the environment and sustainability, as well as sports tourism or the generation of resources for the regions that host it, are addressed. Friday will be followed through the Youtube channel of ADEP and even presentially at the El Batel Congress Palace of Cartagena with the preservation of the health measures derived from the pandemic.
The Royal Spanish Federation of Vela, with its president Javier Sanz attending the event, is one of the ten Spanish sports federations that have joined together to carry out this ambitious project, a pioneer in Spain. Motoronautics, Nautical Skiing, Swimming, Remo, Fishing, Surf, Underwater Activities, Piragüismo and Triathlon, complete the list under the umbrella of ADEP (Spanish Sports Association).
The Water Games will be marked by the Green Sport Flag within the Free Plan, a plan of the Spanish Sports Association to promote sustainability and the environment, in this case also the marine and river environment.
Cartagena has turned from the beginning to host these first Water Games of history. A city in a paradoxical environment such as the fact that it is located on the western Spanish coast next to the Mediterranean Sea and has other cultural and gastronomic incentives to make it ideal. His experience in organizing international events such as the Circuito Audi Medcup regatta or several World and Spain Vela Championships support his career.
The issue is not a balady one, it is estimated that seven million people, among sportsmen and fans, practice sports related to the aquatic environment in Spain. This is why this new and responsible event will bring together about 3,000 sportspeople for a total of 9,000 people related to these Water Games that have been shot.
