The first test of the thirty-second edition of the Ifach Peñón Trophy between Calpe and Formentera is closed, with a total of 63 nautical miles. A somewhat fast edition, given the good wind conditions on the journey, in general terms, allowing the fastest units to complete the tour in just over 8 hours, case of the Plis Play (RCR Alicante-RCN Calpe), a Swan 80 that arrived at Formentera around 6.55 hours, using 8h. 40 "to cover the peninsula and the island.
The Spaniard (RCR Alicante) was the second to reach the island, with a difference over the first of almost 2 hours. After the arrival of the Alicantino ship, the entrances to Formentera were produced gradually and in compliance with the order of arrival according to the forecasts, according to the characteristics of the ships, always with the conditions of wind.
Seven have been the ships that have not completed the tour, withdrawing for various reasons: Kiran, Alter Ego, Pineña Colada, Marine Spirit Three, Mikala, Saro II and Selene III, so they completed this first test 54 of the 61 ships that took the exit in Calp Bay at 10 a.m. yesterday Thursday.
After obtaining the compensated times, in Group A the podium was formed by Plis Play, followed by Spaniard and Itaca IX (RCN Calpe). In the B, M8 Zas Sailing (RCN Valencia), New Sisters (RCN Gandia) and Piropo (RCR Alicante), they occupy the first three places, while in Group C are Mikay (CD Marina Portet), Cafés Granell (RCN Valencia) and Timothy (CN Altea) and in the D appear in the provisional drawer Kai, No te Nom, both of the RCR Alicante, and Despelote (CN Santa Pola). The Royal Nautical Club of Calpe has today offered a show in Calp Bay that has long since been seen in a race. With 61 ships at the time of the start, at 10 a.m., and a wind of 7-8 knots of intensity on a axis of 050º (NE-Northeast), plus a general call, the emotion has been served as the vast majority sought the 'same hole' to leave in that first attempt.
The Calp Bay was full of ships, each looking for the best choice and the perfect board according to the characteristics of each ship. Some of the fleet's' peques' have chosen to stick more to the 'rock', case of the Tanit IV Medilevel (RCR Alicante) and Cafés Granell (RCN Valencia), although other units and that enter the quinielas to be on the podium have followed that path, although not so attached to the Peñón.
Boats such as Pajuelin XII Benidorm (CN Benidorm), Isabella, Itaca IX, both of the RCN Calpe, Zas Sailing (RCN Valencia). Limbo II, Kalamandurrio and Timothy, the three of Altea or Spaniard (RCR Alicante) have positioned themselves well in departure, allowing them to be ahead of the fleet, opting all of them for the center of the race field. The great, Plis Play (RCR Alicante-RCN Calpe) and Alzira Moraira (CN Moraira), who are aware of the possibilities of their ship and speed, have been very cautious on their way out, but after it the conditions were very favourable to them in a view and not seen to stand in front.
The weather forecasts appear to have been met, at least in the first tranche, increasing in intensity to reach the 10 knots and that 1.5-meter wave that was projected. A situation that has changed, reaching half the channel, although only the wave has fallen, but maintaining the wind intensity that has been between 8 and 12 knots of NE intensity.
These wind and sea conditions make it a race, first test, pretty fast. The first ship is expected to arrive on the island of Formentera between 6.30 and 7 p.m., pointing to the Swan 80, Plis Play, being the first to take the arrival line as it is located about 23 miles from the island.
By its stern, with a difference of about 6 miles, it is followed by the Alicantino Spaniard, and more to the sotavento of the Swan 80 are the Alzira Moraira, a Swan 75 and Limbo II, and sailing on a further board to the outside sail Jeffertje, Isabella, Kalamandurrio, Jeronimo II and Pajuelin XIII Benidorm.

The tribésimosegundo Trofeo Peñón de Ifach will be held in 2021, after being cancelled last year by the health situation of the Covit-19. The present edition will be held from 26 to 29 May, maintaining its format of two races: Calpe-Formentera and Formentera-Calpe, a high race that appears as an autonomous championship in the calendar of the FVCV, although the social acts suffer a significant variation, unlike in previous years, because they have to comply with several health protocols and those established by the Calpine club.
The emblematic race of Calpe is already a reality, after the official presentation of the Ifach Peñón Trophy today. The Club has not wanted to lose the tradition of its passage by the Regulating Council of Wines of the Protected Denomination of Origin Valencia and although the completion has also undergone a major change, with a brief act and in 'family' has not failed to count on the main actors: Cosme Gutiérrez, president of the Council DO Vinos Valencia, accompanied by Juan Belliure, president of the RCN Calpe.
As far as the race is concerned, the Calpina quote is valid for the autonomous championship of Cruise Altura. The Club maintains its format, with two races: Calpe-Formentera and Formentera-Calpe. The departure from Calpe is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday 27 May, while the day on Saturday 29 will take place at the same time from the island.
As for the participation, the complete sign has had to be rehung to a little more than 13 days for the official start of the competition, with 61 ships that will be on the starting line, coming from the RCN Valencia, RNC Gandia, CN Altea, CN Moraira, CN Villajoyosa, RCR Alicante, RCN Torrevieja, CN Santa Pola, CN Cullera, in addition to the own fleet of the RCN de Calpe.
