A total of 41 cruise ships from Spain and Portugal were held on Saturday in the Ria de Vigo the Community Trophy, the first of the six heavy sailing races that the Monte Real Club de Yates has scheduled for this 2021.
It was almost 17 miles away that the Magic of Julio Rodríguez, from the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, sailed in just 2 hours and 17 minutes, becoming the fastest sailing boat of the test. However, the time compensation left him without the first place in his category, the ORC 1-2, which was finally for the Yess Racing of Portuguese Rui Ramada, which regated under the grompola of Mount Real Club de Yates.
The Lusa crew collected their award as a hand winner from Roberto Lira, executive director of Comunica Comunicación Visual, a sponsor of the event, who also gave them the award that recognized them as winners of the ABC general 1-2-3-4. The second and third position in the section of the great ships were occupied, respectively, the Magic of Julio Rodríguez; and the Oils April of the brothers Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal, both of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo.
In ORC 3-4, the winner of the race was the Deep Blue 2.0 of Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo), which left the Black Mockery of Juan J. Martínez (CN Castrelo de Miño) and the Balea Dous of Luis Pérez (RCN Rodeira) with the second and third place respectively. The vice president of Mount Real Club de Yates, Alejandro Retolaza, was in charge of giving them the trophies.
This year, as a novelty, the competition included a category of A Two, and the couple formed by Victor Carrion and Small Horatio, on board Bon III of Punta Lagoa, rose with the final victory. The silver and bronze were taken by the Unus of Luis García Trigo and Carlos Quintas (MRCYB); and the Q Talento Consultants of Javier Rey and Jorge Justo (MRCYB). The one in charge of distributing the trophies of this class was the mayor of Baiona, Carlos Gómez.
In the ORC Open class, the winners were the Nahela de Victor Manuel Álvarez, of the Club Deportivo Alagua, which was left first; and the Forza Catro de Victor Fernández (Vertigo Sailing) and the Esquio de Alejandro Castro (LM Bouzas), which were left second and third.
In the last two categories in liza, those of the J80 and Fibarians monotypes, the competition took place in real time. The fastest to complete the test between the J80 fleet were the Maija of José Luis Pérez, the Namasté of Luis de Mira and the Alboroto of Juan Carlos Ameneiro... in the Fígaro AEProtec class, the final podium was formed by the Serralleiras of Paula Rey, the Bouvento of Javier Bernardez and the Ladeira of Teresa Valladares.
The Community Trophy was in charge of opening the heavy sailing calendar of Mount Real Club de Yates, which in 2021 has six scheduled races. The following date is with the Repsol Trophy, the club's Spring Regatta that this year is celebrating its forty-third edition. On June 5, the Galician Championship of A Two, which the Baionese club organizes for the tenth consecutive year by delegation of the Royal Galician Federation of Vela, will come. The Xacobeo Rally between Baiona and Portosin will be held between 7 and 11 July; and July and September will be the months of the Count of Gondomar Trophy (from 23 to 25 July) and the Prince of Asturias Trophy (from 3 to 5 September), which will include a further year of the National Vela Terras Gauda Awards.

After the launch of the Winter League of J80 and the celebration of the Spanish Championship of Optimist, the Monte Real Club of Yates inaugurates this Saturday the heavy sailing season with the Community Trophy, the first of the six cruise races that the Baionese club has scheduled for this 2021.
A coastal between Vigo and Baiona will be the route that the participating sailboats (which will be able to compete in ORC, ORC Open, ORC Double Honed, J80 or Figaro) will have to complete to be made with the final victory, which will be resolved in a single day.
The point of arrival will be located in the vicinity of the Dona de Baiona and once the test is completed, it will be the Monte Real Club de Yates itself that hosts the award of the winners, at seven o'clock in the afternoon.
As a novelty this year, one of the categories in liza will be that of ORC Double Honed, in which the sailboats will be manned by only two people. This is a change accepted by the organizing club after receiving requests from some shipowners who want to be able to participate in more races within this mode to prepare for the Galician Championship of A2 to be held in June.
One of the cruises that will participate in this category will be the Salaño Dos of Jacobo Vecino and Brenda Maure, which will face, among others, the Q Talento Consultants of Javier Rey and Jorge Justo; the Lamazan of Mariano Benavente and Genoveva Pereiro; or the Alalunga of Rodrigo Rodríguez and Carlos Cárdenas.
In ORC there will be three of the usual of the great races in Galicia: the Yess Racing of Portuguese Rui Ramada, the Oils April of the Pérez Canal brothers and the Pairo patrolled by Luis Bugallo. And for the J80 competition they have already registered to participate the Luxoconf of Jean Claude Sarrade, the SND Cormorán of Francisco Martínez, the Ifaclinic of Joao Allen, the Galera of Miguel Fernandez, the New Moon of Juan Luis Tuero and the Pazo de Cea of Iago Carballo.
In the last edition of the competition, held in 2019 (in 2020 there was no because of the restrictions of the COVID19), the winner will be the Nahela of the Club Deportivo Alagua, patronized by Victor Manuel Álvarez. He would be sold in the general classification and also take the victory in the class ORC 1.
In ORC 2 the winner was the Abal Abogados de Mariano Dios (Ro Yacht Club), and in monotypes were imposed the Cansino of Fernando Yáñez and the Ladeira of Genoveva Pereiro. The fastest boat to complete the tour (11.9 miles in just 2 hours and 7 minutes) is the Swan 45 Yess Too of the Portuguese Rui Ramada.
This new edition of the Community Trophy is again sponsored, one more year, and there are already five (four editions of cruises and an exclusive one of monotypes), by Comunica Comunicación Visual, a firm that offers printing services, signs, industrial design and acrylic articles to all Galicia from the municipality of A Guarda, where its main headquarters are located. For months now, under the signature of AEProtec, they have also been engaged in the manufacture of masks, screens and other products related to protection against COVID19.
