There are more than 100 cruises in the entire circuit of the Sea of Maeloc 2021

The Sea Regatta of Maeloc Trophy Xacobeo 2021-22 is already a reality. The Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting of Getxo, which thus joins the Real Nautical Club of La Coruña and the Real Nautical Club of Vigo, is part of the group of four events that make up the concept of Mar de Maeloc: the Regata of Getxo to La Coruña, the Regata Rias Alta, the Trophy Finisterre and the Regata of the Rias Baixas.

On July 21 at the edge of the one in the afternoon, the fleet will leave the Abra vizcadino heading for La Coruña... ahead 250 miles and two to three days of navigation. It is expected that it will be about 15 large ships leaving Las Arenas, even though the most optimistic versions expect to reach the twenty. At the moment there are several possibilities for the time compensation system... in any case the will of the organizers, it is to give all kinds of facilities to the participants, to bring together as many ships as possible... which if everything concerning the safety of the crews will be rigorous.

Among the first to have committed their participation is the champion of Spain of the Finnish class: the Coruñés Miguel Vasco, who will be in charge of the crew. After the Getxo-La Coruña, the Rías Altas from July 29 to 31 and August 1, the Trophy Finisterre on August 6 and 7, and the Rías Baixas from August 10 to 14. In total, the four events are expected to have more than 100 cruises, with about 700 crew members... with special impact in the areas of Cantabric, Galicia and Portugal.

On the afternoon of Tuesday a representation of the Organizing Committee was received in María Pita by the Concelleira de Deportes herculina Mónica Martinez, composed of: Tomás Alonso Allende and Eduardo García Santamarina (by the Marítimo del Abra), Jorge Etcheverría Mazaira and Guillermo Blanco (by the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña), as well as Manuel Pedro Seoane as Secretary General of Mar de Maeloc... the goal that the north and north-west of our country will be able to build a real offer of cruise races, in front of the Peninsula.
