Between the next 21 and 28 days, in the waters of the bay of Cadiz is held the World Windsurf Championship RS: X 'Gotas de Oro', under the organization of the Andalusian Federation of Vela, with headquarters in the Specialized Centre of Sports Tecnification of Vela Bahía de Cadiz, which places its facilities in the port of Puerto Sherry.

Collecting the witness of the city of Sorrento, Australia, the headquarters of the last world, the International Windsurfing Association (IWA) and the World Sailing (International Sailing Federation) place their trust in our country and in the organizational capacity and courage of the Andalusian entity, to set up the complex machinery in just a month after the resignation of Hyeres, and to face the organization of an event that transcends the sporting interest to become an event of extraordinary value for the tourism, promotion and economy of the city and the province and that puts Andalusia in the sight of the world.

Not in vain, with this reason are gathered in the city of El Puerto de Santa María all the regatists that currently make up the world fleet of Olympic discipline of Windsurf, class RS: X, but we are not only talking about sportsmen. In addition to the 80 windsurfers in twenty-seven countries, the figures increase by more than a hundred among technical, federal and class staff, as well as accompanying staff, and around fifty people employed on the sea and land committees, including the so-called 'Covid Inspectors', who are responsible for the compliance with the strict detection and prevention protocols against the Covid Coronavirus.
