Este hecho supone una importante inversión para la naviera que tiene la “firme decisión” de colaborar para que los puertos canarios “sean puertos limpios, sin ruidos y sin emisiones”, al igual que los buques de la Naviera

This is an important investment for the shipping company that has the "firm decision" to work together to make the canaries ports "clean, noisy and free of emissions," as well as the ships of the shipping company

The ferry Volcano de Taburiente, of Naviera Armas Transmediterráneo, has premiered the system of electricity supply 'tierra- ship' of the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, which is technically known as' cold ironing '... through this system of supply of electricity from the ground, the ship can turn off the auxiliary engines and keep all the essential services on board with the fluid that comes from the ground, which significantly reduces the acoustic signature.

In this way, not only the levels of noise pollution are significantly improved and reduced, but also the emission of polluting gases and vibrations of the ship while it is stuck in the port... it should be noted that the Volcano ferry of Taburiente is the only ship with the capacity to connect to the network of the electrical system in the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, as it has engines adapted for it... in fact, last December, this same ship was the first to start the system 'cold ironing' in the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera.

Paulino Rivero, director of Institutional Relations of Naviera Armas Transmediterráneo, has highlighted the commitment of the company that this year celebrates its 80th anniversary with the environment and technological renewal, including the progressive implementation of the 'cold ironing' system, which is a major investment by the shipping company. Rivero has reiterated the company's "firm decision" to work together to make the canarian ports "clean, noisy and free of emissions" and has referred to the current circumstances, "in which priorities need to be reduced."
