The favourable resolution guarantees the development of federal programmes in the medium and long term

The Andalusian Federation of Vela has managed to extend the administrative concession to occupy its headquarters in El Puerto de Santa María for a period of 15 years until June 2038. This has been communicated to you by the Harbour Authority of the Bay of Cadiz, which presides Teófila Martínez. The 30-year grant granted in 1992 was due in 2022, and the time limit is set for a few more months from 2 March 2021, the date of the affirmative decision.

At the time of the expiry of the administrative concession, the law of State Ports provides either for a renewal of the concession, which would be a public competition, or for the extension of the concession rights that the Andalusian Federation of Vela requested in due course, on the basis of a substantial improvement in the concession, in this case the construction of the Specialized Centre for Sports Tecnification of Vela Bahía de Cadiz in 2011. In this way and in accordance with the provisions, the law grants the extension of 50% of the 30-year grant granted on 25 June 1992.

While, according to the law, there should be no problem in automatically obtaining this extension, in the face of possible surprises and in particular in order to end the concern that always involves such a procedure, the Andalusian Federation of Vela decided to advance the application, to gain time and ensure the normal development of its activities in the areas of competition and training and the achievement of the different programmes of action in the medium and long term. Now and after a month in public exhibition without any challenge, the extension is already a fact.

"The Board of Administration of the Harbour Authority in session held on March 2, 2021 agrees to authorize the request for the extension of the concession period, of the concession transferred to the Andalusian Federation of Vela by OM for the consolidation of the auxiliary works of the asphaltic ramp in the interior of Puerto Sherry, service area of the Port of the Bay of Cadiz, for a period of 15 years until June 2038."
