Marina Rubicón closes the Lanzarote International Regatta with indisputable Spanish flavor, with the ESP Sailing Team to the full in the three podiums of the race: Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra celebrating a triumph that they had already achieved mathematically in 49er; Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel making with the victory in Nacra 17 after the dispute of the last fleet regatta by not being able to fight the Medal Race for excess wind and wave; and Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló embroidered a last day with the first post in the third place and in the third place in the general post.

Lanzarote, the last international test before this team moves to Enoshima to fight the Tokyo Games' tournament, leaves the Spanish pavilion well high with two oars and a bronze on the meeting. Excellent results that give a good account of the high potential of our athletes, clearly pointing to the high medal possibilities of the ESP Sailing Team.

The fleet was being thrown into the water today with a program that contemplated the holding of a last fleet race for all participants and the Medal Races, final test with the Top10 of the classification of each of the classes. The activity came this way before it was used to a field of races that today was dressed with minced sea and wind between 14 and 16 knots.

Far from loosening with the security of victory in 49er, Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra demonstrated one more day to be worthy of victory, closing their markers with a third and an eighth, and no less than 39 points of advantage over the second, the Danes Warrer and Pretch- Jensen. They could only draw 10 points from the Irish Dickson and Waddilove, who were leaders on the first day and say goodbye with a first on the Medal Race.

The rise of the wind left the Nacra 17 with no chance of disputing the Medal Race, closing the classifications with the last fleet race, 16 of the program, in which Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel were third. 13 points of difference with the Germans Kohlhoff and Stuhlemmer made clear the limited scope for taking the gold from the Spaniards, even more remote to the French Delapierre and Audinet who were third at 42 points.

After a difficult championship in which Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló have demonstrated their maturity as regatists and their ability to successfully remount the sailing setbacks, the Galician-balear crew faced the last day since the fifth place of the provisional classification of 49er FX. To this fifth of the fifth and penultimate day, the Spanish came after starting the championship in the sixth position of the provisional and continuing with a 16-9-9. Capaces of everything, the world's champions tempered weapons with a fifth place in the last fleet race and beat the Medal Race, which led them to the third step of the podium.

2021 / 03 / 25: Botín-Marra are already gold in the Lanzarote International Regatta that ends tomorrow

Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra exceed all expectations and are already virtual winners in 49er of the Lanzarote International Regatta... Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel remain leaders in Nacra 17 and face the last day with 14 points of advantage... for their part Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló go up to the fifth place in the absence of a race and the Medal Race to finish the championship (Sailing Energy Photos)

The penultimate day of the Lanzarote International Regatta leaves the cards practically distributed for the final battle, with a single pending test to decide the Top10 of the final race, the Medal Race. The three crews of the ESP Sailing Team have already been secured, thanks to the advantages accumulated after closing today as leaders in 49er and Nacra 17 with the crews of Diego Botín and Iago Ópez-Marra and Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel respectively, and up to the fifth position in 49er FX with Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barcelo.

The first to finish his series today were the 49er, with three tests that went up a 3-3-10 to the score of the Spanish Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra, reaffirming them as undisputed leaders of the classification. And not only that, but the computation of their adversaries places them at 35 points of the Danes Warrer and Pretch-Jensen, and 55 of the Irish Dickson and Waddilove, so in the absence of the final series race and the double-score Medal Race, the crew of the ESP Sailing Team proclaims to be virtual winner of the championship.

And for Iago Ópez- Marra, the important thing is not to lower your guard at this crucial moment in front of the Olympic Games: "We face the Medal with confidence and it is that we have never made a championship as complete as this one. We are on the line that we have been targeting for many months, but even if we have mathematically won this championship we cannot relax. This is the time when all the international teams are going to push face to Tokyo."

In Nacra 17, Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel stand firm as leaders after signing today a 6-3-1, dominating a podium in which differences, of 14 and 25 points compared to the 2nd and 3rd, give confidence without allowing distractions for the final day. Both the Germans Kohlhoff and Stuhlemmer and the French Delapierre and Audinet maintain a good pace of results and seem willing not to let our favorites breathe until the last line of arrival is crossed.

Excellent day of Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló with a 6-1-2 that makes them ascend to the fifth position of the provisional in 49er FX, with many options open for the final day, in which they still have a race to scratch positions before facing the Medal Race. The positions continue to dance in the classification of this class, and with the Brazilian Grael and Kunze maintaining the command of the provisional, the Dutch Bekkking and Duetz return to the podium by recovering the second position, passing to the third place the New Zealand Maloney and Meech.

The ESP Sailing Team leads the 49er and Nacra 17 classes to a single day of the Races Medal.

In Nacra 17, there are Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel at the front that, with two first positions and one second are reaffirmed as class leaders and up to 11 points that separate them from the next classified, the Germans Kohlhoff and Stuhlemmer... the third step of the podium remains occupied by the French Delapierre and Audinet that have the Swedes Järudd and Jonsson at one point.

Diego Botín and Iago López Marra reembroidery today's three sleeves in 49er with a 1-2-1 that keeps them as leaders and differentiates them as the Top10 crew with the best results of the day. The Spanish have 13 points less than the Danes Warrer and Pretch-Jensen and up to 36 points less than the Irish Dickson and Waddilove.

With the 49er and 49er FX fleets today sailing separate in Gold and Silver groups, in addition to the Olympic crews, three of the participants in the 49er pilot program of the RFEV National Sports Tecnification Plan are also sailing in the privileged Oro group, which testifies to the level reached by these crews in the few months it has been training. Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado are at the head of the group, in position 23, followed by Martín Wizner and Pablo García.

The fight is still very closed between the 49er FX, where Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló maintain the ninth position of the Top10, and the Brazilian Grael and Kunze are leaders one more day... from there the classification continues to undergo continuous changes, today starring the Dutch Bekkerin and Duetz that go down to the fifth position to give them the second place to the New Zealanders Maloney and Meech, and the Norwegian Naess and Renningen that go into octavas, to two points of the Spanish, while the Danish with the third position they enter with the third place.

The Lanzarote International Regatta crosses its equator with the favorites by clearly shaping itself in the classifications, in which the crews of the ESP Sailing Team are especially shining as they place themselves leaders in 49er and Nacra 17, and return to the Top10 of 49er FX after an excellent day for the Spanish regatists.

And it is that today, at last, Lanzarote's regatta field has behaved as appropriate to its fame, with a more consistent wind that has remained between 9 and 13 knots of intensity and with much less wave than in previous days. This has allowed the three tests scheduled for each class to be contested with greater agility, reflecting in the classifications results much more in line with the level of each crew.

The day has been plethoric for Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra in 49er. The Cantabro-Galician crew has added three first consecutive crew that allow them to stand with comfort at the head of the classification, with three points of advantage over the Danes Warrer and Precht-Jensen, with the Irish Dickson and Waddilove returning to the podium in third position.

Among our young promises, Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado recover the head of the group with position 20, followed by Martin Wizner and Pablo García in 23, and Albert Torres and Elias Aretz in 24.

Day also with Spanish starring in Nacra 17, where Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel have signed excellent 2-1-3 partials that take them to the leadership position by moving the Germans Kohlhoff and Stuhlemmer to the second position, and the French Delapierre and Audinet to the third.

In 49er FX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló respond firmly to yesterday's stunt and claim their quality as world champions to close the day with a 1-2-3 that returns them to the To10 of the classification, in the ninth place.

Both the 49er FX and the 49er begin tomorrow the final phase of the championship, divided into groups Gold and Silver. The ESP Sailing Team of Diego Botín and Iago Ópez-Marra and Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barcelo are in the group Oro of their respective classes, including in the group Oro de 49er the Spanish youth crew formed by Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado.

2021 / 03 / 22: ESP Sailing Team at podium posts in 49er and Nacra 17 in Lanzarote

Diego Botín and Iago López Marra in 49er and Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in Nacra 17 occupy the third place in their respective classifications... the wind remains capricious in the Lanzarote International Regatta, which has not prevented the crews of the ESP Sailing Team from being placed in podium positions after the second day

Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló today pay for the tension existing in the fleet of 49er FX with two off-line that lead them to the 16th position and that they contrast with the first position achieved in the second race of the day, a victory that makes clear the ability of the Spanish women to rise positions in the four days still ahead. The wind does not end with the Olympic candle in the last championships and the regatists again face in Lanzarote a second day complicated as far as conditions are concerned. Roles and low intensity, a wind that started the day well and remained quite stable of up to 12 knots, to go down to 5-8 knots with variations of almost 30 °.

Three new races have been held for each of the classes, although in the face of the fall of the wind, both the Nacra 17 and the 49er have had difficulty completing the series. In it, Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra have gone from less to more in the fleet of 49er and, if they started with a 7, they amended the flat with a 1-2 that takes them from the fifth square yesterday to the third step of the provisional podium. The new class leaders are the British Fletcher and Bithell, now followed by the Danish Warrer and Pretch- Jensen.

The Spanish youth team of the National Sports Tecnification Plan continues to bid to stay on top of the table on this first international date for them. Martin Wizner and Pablo García are now leading the group at 16, with Albert Torres and Elías Aretz catapulted from 27 to 18 thanks to 6-8-8 partials. Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado are in 21st position.

Great day for Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in Nacra 17 who also reach Top3. The Spaniards opened the day with a second position then adding a 6-5, harvested in the two races in the worst wind conditions, in which we were informed by their coach, Alvaro del Arco: "In some moments in the sopas you could not foliate and in close, most of the time, both skates were on the water." As for the provisional of the class, the great change is the arrival of the Spaniards on the podium, with the Germans Kohlhoff and Stuhlemmer in the first position followed by the French Delapierre and Audinet.

2021 / 03 / 21: Good start of the ESP Sailing Team in Lanzarote waters: full in the three "top ten"

Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra are fifth in 49er in a tight Top5, with Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado, eleventh... in 49er FX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló occupy sixth place after a day that makes a strong struggle for victory in the Lanzarote International Regatta... Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel, six in Nacra 17, point to a first on this opening day.

It lasts the opening day in launcher waters... in which the ESP Sailing Team crews have managed to stay in the Top10 of the table, with Diego Botín and Iago López Marra as best classified in the fifth position of their class.

A very high ranking in 49er, which, after these first three races, has the first five classified in five points. After starting with two fifths, Diego Botín and Iago López Marra have closed the day with a second and form Top5 with the most granate of the class. The surprise has come from the Irish Dickson and Waddilove who show up as first leaders before figures of the size of Fletcher and Bithell (GBR), Fischer and Thibault (FRA), the Fantela (CRO) and Botín and López Marra.

The fight between the girls of 49er FX has also been evident since the first test, with an equally tight classification in which there are also five points in which the Top5 is compressed, from which Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló are at a point in sixth position. It is the French Sebesi and Dubois who lead the first provisional classification, tied with the Norwegian Naess and Renningen, closing the first podium the Dutch Bekkking and Duetz.

The Nacra 17 are the ones who have suffered the most from the conditions of today, to the point of having to leave the field of regatas because of the impossibility of sailing with the conditions prevailing in the first hours of the day. This has been the last to return to the ground, closing a first provisional classification in which the irregularity of results is common note, with the Spanish Olympic Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in sixth position, three points from the podium, with a first place in the second test of the day. The first to be classified are the Germans Kohlhoff and Stuhlemmer, who have been the only ones able to maintain regularity in their partials... for tomorrow, the second day of race in which three new tests are planned for each of the classes.

Mañana se estrena la Lanzarote International Regatta, prueba en la que el equipo olímpico español, ESP Sailing Team, buscará la victoria en las clases 49er, 49er FX y Nacra 17

Tomorrow the Lanzarote International Regatta premiere, proof in which the Spanish Olympic team, ESP Sailing Team, will seek victory in classes 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17

Tomorrow the Lanzarote International Regatta begins, a country-specific test - Europe and Africa - for the JJ.OO. from Tokyo in classes 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17, following the postponement of the Princess Sofia Trophy.

Thus, the Spanish "armada" in 49er is headed by Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra, the Olympic crew, along with Albert Torres and Elías Aretz, Conrad Konitzer and Simbard Quiroga, Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado, Pol and Alex Marsans, Martín Wizner and Pablo García and Rafael de la Hoz and José Manuel Ruiz - the latter as components of the PNTD-.

Botín and Marra, current world subchampions and world ranking rooms, will seek victory before crews such as the Dutch Lambriex and van Vugt, number one of the world ranking, or the Austrians Bildstein and Hussl, second of the world ranking and subchampions of Europe.

Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel, the crew of the ESP Sailing Team in Nacra 17, premiere third place in the world ranking and arrive all in front of teams such as Delapierre and Audinet (FRA), current subchampions of Europe.

Lanzarote thus becomes a European base for the Olympic fleets, which have spent - in their majority - much of the winter sailing together in their waters, in an eternal training of the JJ.OO., as they did in Santander last summer. Spain is the perfect base for European elite training.

2021 / 03 / 17: More than 100 Olympic ships from 30 countries in the Lanzarote selective for Tokyo

Lanzarote será en los últimos días de este mes, la capital europea-africana de la vela olímpica

Lanzarote will be in the last days of this month, the European-African capital of the Olympic Sailing

Lanzarote will be the European and African continental classification race field for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, to be held in mid-this year... in the Lucky Islands will compete: Nacra 17, 49er and 49er FX, from 21 to 26 March, by the Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife.

Among the inscriptions, Tara Pacheco, the 'queen' of Arguineguín has been the champion of the world and is in the top ten world. This 31-year-old canary aspires to Olympic gold and to represent Spain in the Nacra 17 class, next to the Barcelona Florian Trittel, at the Olympic Games. In the male mode 49er, the song Diego Botín and the Galician Iago López are placed among the favorites, after being ninth in the 2016 Rio Games and fourth in the 2019 World 2019 of New Zealand, classifying Spain by country for Tokyo, as well as proclaiming 49er European champions. The regatist of the Real Club Náutico Gran Canaria Andrés Barrio, is a team with Antón Torrado, of the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja.

By the female mode 49er FX, the Galician Tamara Echegoyen and the Majorcan Paula Barceló will be the representatives in Tokyo, after being champions in the World Cup of Vela. Echegoyen was also gold in the 2012 London Games (in the class category Elliott 6m) and fourth in the last Rio Games 2016 in the same class 49er FX. In this same way, the canaria María Cantero, who sails with the Galician Patricia Suárez, aspires to Paris 2024. There is no doubt that the island has become an idyllic place for the practice of this sport not only for the Canaries, but also for competitors who come from different parts of the peninsula, Europe and the world. In fact, more than 300 regatists have chosen Lanzarote for the last training before the Olympic Games.

The natural conditions of the Canary Islands make the Archipelago the paradise of professional training. There are many elite athletes who choose the Archipelago to carry out their preparation. The numbers of the Canary Islands are clear. 23rd in summer, 19th in winter and 4,800 hours of light per year. "Canary Islands is a consolidated sports tourist destination for many years. We are the only place in Europe that in winter has extraordinary conditions for training. And this year even more," said José Juan Lorenzo, Promotur's manager.
