Como es habitual en nuestra sociedad moderna... la sociedad civil por delante de la clase política

As usual in our modern society... civil society ahead of the political class

Following the appearance before the Parlament of the Illes Balears of the Conseller D. Miguel Mir, held on 3 March 2021, in reference to the case of the failure to act of the Conselleria of Medi Ambient i Teritori, against the damage caused to the posidonia by the discharges of poorly purified waste water in the Bay of Palma, the main associations of users and fans of the Sea of the Balearic Islands, ASSOCIATION OF MEDITERRANOO-DNA, ASSOCIATION OF RECREATIVE FISHERIES SABLEAPERATORY, ASSOCIATION WITH THE ASSOCIATION, ANAVRE, a national partnership integrated in turn with the European Boating Association, want to highlight:

1. We regret that the only party involved, which was closely involved, referred to the reason for the appearance of Mr. Mir out the applicant for it, VOX.

2. It is difficult to understand the attitude of the other opposition parties to events of such serious environmental impact because of their lack of interest in clarifying the facts in question, which in addition to the destruction of large areas of ocean meadow, also pose a serious danger to public health. This danger is shown by the multiple closures of beaches decreed in the Balearic Islands because of waste water discharges, which, in the bay of Palma, deprive a "city beach" in optimal conditions that could be enjoyed by all citizens.

3. In reference to the interventions of the representatives of the parties that support the Govern Balear, it was to be expected that they would be in an acritical tone for the work of the Conselleria del Sr. Mir. But, to reiterate their disqualifications to a specialized media (Nautical Gazette) and to use the excuse that "this is caused by the shipowners of the ships, who want to fondear on posidonia," show a level, that we are sure is not the parliamentary and political level that is used in the Parliament normally.

4. It was logical to try. To look at the focus of the debate on investment forecasts, future plans, water cycle, etc.... by avoiding the intervention, or rather the lack of it, for the damage caused by poorly purified waste water to the posidonia. It draws particular attention to his claim that he is not fully aware of the SEPRONA report "for not having been sent to the Conselleria," especially when they have been involved in the judicial proceedings since 17 June 2019. We simply regard it as a true sign of political irresponsibility and lack of respect for the citizens of the Balearic Islands. Let us not forget that this report notes the failure of the Conselleria of which it is the owner to act, compared to 2,000,000m2 destroyed of posidonia.

5. The associations that subscribe to this letter, as representatives of the interests of the citizens who have at sea, their place of leisure, understand that it is essential that in the Parlament de les Illes Balears, the equality of all in compliance with the Law is defended and, therefore, that the administration, in this case the autonomous Government of the Balearic Islands, is required to predict by example rather than enacting laws that place the citizen in the spotlight while avoiding the responsibility of the public administration. After hearing the three hours of appearance, it is clear publicly and at the parliamentary headquarters that since the Govern, only individuals have been prosecuted, without opening any case for the damage to the posidonia due to the emissary in question. This has resulted in a clear omission of the duty of law enforcement and monitoring that should be observed by the public administration at all levels.

6. We demand, once again, that the public authorities take the necessary measures to regularize the network of waste water emissaries and to control once and for all the polluting discharges from the facilities that make up it, rather than to devote themselves to blaming the problems of the posidonia to the nautical of recreation and the nautical sector. Some citizens, who, as the statistics of the Medi Ambient Consellery themselves highlight, mostly observe the good practices of plumbing and recommended habits to avoid any damage to the marine environment in which sports and recreational navigation is developed.
