The Galician Carlos Arévalo has today won the selective that adjudicates the square of the K1 200 meters of the Spanish selection for the JJOO of Tokyo by imposing in the two series held in the field of regatas of Trasona, in Asturias, where tomorrow the tests begin for the K4 500.

Spanish pyragüism begins in Trasona, in the middle of Asturias, the selectives to determine the crew of K1 200 and K4 500 in the Olympic Games... are the Trials in which the Olympic champions Saul Craviotto, Cristian Toro and Marcus Cooper Walz, the Olympic finalist Rodrigo Germade, and the world medalists Carlos Garrote and Carlos Arévalo, of the six only four will get the ticket for Tokyo.
The tests start with the K1 200 and will continue until next week with the K4 500 under the selection criteria established by the Spanish Piragüismo Federation, which mark as the main objective to achieve the Olympic medal in both tests.
The six pre-selected palists for K1 200 and K4 500 have medals in the three years prior to the initial date of the JJOO on the two distances and ships, and all of them were permanently concentrated under the direction of the technician Miguel García.
In K4 500... following the individual tests carried out at the six palists on the distance of 200 and 400 meters, three different combinations have been configured, resulting from the multiple tests carried out during these months, taking a decision agreed with each of the palists, taking into account data of performance, coupling value and trust, among others.
The crews seeking K4 ownership are: Craviotto, Garrote, Arévalo and Toro; Craviotto, Cooper, Arévalo and Germade, and Craviotto, Cooper, Arévalo and Toro. Each of these vessels will have two counter-watch tests, which will be carried out in six different days, and will win the one that is fastest and meets the criteria... la selected crew will start working to prepare the 2021 World Cup, which will be held in Szeged (Hungary), from 14 to 16 next May.
In K1 200, the process determines that two tests will be carried out over 200 meters with an interval of two hours... if there was a different winner in each one, there will be a third run in the afternoon for the rift between the two winners, which will award the representation of the K1 200.
The selection criteria provide that in the case of a K4 500 vessel whose time is best, for a difference of 0,6 "or more than the second, and in that crew the best K1 200 is found, it will be the vessel that will come to the JJOO and the provisional holder of the K1 200 will be the winner of the winner of the K1 200 selective. This process will be subject to final evaluation at the World Cup.
