With many of the participants already training in Gaditan waters and preparing the material at the Specialized Centre of Sports Tecnification of Vela Bahia de Cadiz, headquarters of the Andalusian Federation of Sela in El Puerto de Santa María, the machinery of the 16th Andalusian Olympic Week, 21st Carnival Trophy, will be launched on Thursday, 25 February, for the measurement and confirmation of inscriptions and will be a day later, Friday, 26, when the classified tests will begin that will take place during three more days until Monday, 1 March

The Andalusian Federation of Vela announces the celebration between the next 26 February and 1 March of the tenth edition of the Andalusian Olympic Week, which was born twenty-one years ago as Carnival Trophy. In a year very complicated by the pandemic, doubts have been planned about a race that finally comes true to its appointment by overcoming the most optimistic expectations. In the absence of a few days to close registration, there are already more than 180 sportsmen from 20 countries in the ILCA classes (formerly Laser), iQFoil, Finn and 420.

Given the circumstances and when most calendars are cancelled, the gaditana Bay will focus on its waters with a high-level race involving world champions and members of the Olympic teams from different countries, sharing the stage with the young promises. The Olympic classes ILCA 7 (formerly Laser Standard), ILCA 6 Women (formerly female radio laser) and Finn, together with the ILCA 6 Male disciplines, 420 with the Andalusian Championship in play, and the new iQFoil class that will replace the RS: X as Olympic discipline at the Paris Games 2024. All Andalusians of the ILCA 6 categories will also look for the autonomous cup.

The ILCA 7 and 6 classes are the ones that provide the most athletes so far with a total of 80, mostly Spanish and also Ukrainian. Among the first, the onubense Guillermo Flores will be one of the secure bets among the hosts. They follow closely the iQFoil with 74 windsurfers and the greatest foreign participation, with athletes from nine countries including the host, a circumstance that is repeated by consolidating the bay of Cadiz as one of the key places for experienced and new. Thus, it will be a new opportunity to see together the newly proclaimed European master's champion of Formula Foil, the gaditano Fernando Martínez del Cerro; the European champion of 2020, Ramón Pastor and the young Aurelio Terry or Fernando Lamadrid, among others. Among the girls, all the looks will be on Pilar Lamadrid who already won a few months ago in the same waters the New Year's race.

Extraordinary level also in the Finn class, with the best exponents of the Olympic discipline, including the Spanish pre-Olympic team to the full and the current class president and candidate for the presidency of the World Sailing (International Sailing Federation) Gerardo Seeliger among the prominent Spanish, in front of athletes from six other countries. The Gaditan Pablo Guitian called to demonstrate the work he has been doing in recent months with his fellow Olympic candidates.
