Didac has gone into history with his second Vendée Globe

The Catalan Didac Costa has become the first Spanish regatist to complete two Vendée Globe - back to the world alone, without scales or assistance - after finishing the circumnavigation with a time of 97 days, 6 hours, 27 minutes and 3 seconds. Finishing in the 20th position of 33 ships that took the exit from Les Sables d'Olonne on November 8. Didac crossed the line of arrival of the Vendée Globe 2020-2021 just before 9: 00 this Saturday night.

In this way Costa already adds three turns to the world in a lustro, with the same ship, the Idoca60 One Planet, One Ocean, a 'old' ship of the year 2000 and has shown great reliability. In 2014-2015 he finished in fourth position, together with Aleix Gelabert, the Barcelona World Race; in 2017 he was tenth in the Vendée Globe with a time of 114 days - after a few hours of departure had a major failure - and in the edition of 2020-2021 he has again done so and in addition to meeting the goal of reducing to less than 100 days to circumnavigate the planet.

Costa has the honour of having been the only Spanish to finish two Vendée Globe, thus overcoming the Basque José Luis de Ugarte, who was the pioneer in participating in this mythical race. It was also tried by Javier 'Bubi' Sansó, in two cases, and Unai Basurko; but they both remained on the way.

The Vendée Globe is the wildest sports competition. Turn the world around on an 18-meter boat for more than three months, only before the elements, calm and temporary, passing through all the most inhospitable oceans and seas in the south of the planet, passing through the three great ends: Good Hope (South Africa), Leeuwin (Australia) and Horns.
