The Spanish Olympic team of 470 is imposed on the Lanzarote Winter Series

The Spanish Olympic team, ESP Sailing Team, plans to stay in Lanzarote until mid-February, as well as most of the international crews who have chosen the Spanish island as the basis for winter training, making the most of the excellent conditions offered by their waters to navigate
The Royal Nautical Club Arrecife and Marina Rubicón end the first four days of the last round of the Lanzarote Winter Series, in which they have competed the classes 470, 49er and 49er FX, with the success of the crews of the Spanish Olympic sailing team in 470 male and female.
Both Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez, 470 male, and Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero, 470 female, have today closed a magnificent performance in the waters of the Royal Nautical Club Arrecife, in which the class competed.
With the wind from more to less during the four days of competition, both crews were on the second day, exceeding a third of the day of beginning in the case of Xammar and Rodríguez, and an eighth in the case of Mas and Cantero. The female crew also opened the competition with an approach that led to their withdrawal in the third and fourth tests of the day.
In 49er, which together with the 49er FX have had their base in Marina Rubicón, Diego Botín and Iago López Marra began with an eighth place, fighting from the second day to reach a podium that has been left to one point. The Cantabrian-Galician crew has shown an excellent progression during these days and has fought to the end to be on the winning trio, with no luck on the Medal Race to achieve it. The class's winners have been Croats Sime and Mihovil Fantela.
Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló have closed with triumph in the Medal Race, final race with double score, in 49er FX, whose classification has been dominated by the Brazilian Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, and in which the Spanish finish in seventh position. These four days of race have been used by Echegoyen and Barceló to try new material for the Olympic Games, innovations that have borne fruit as demonstrated by their victory at the Medal Race.
Tomorrow the races will begin for the RS classes: X, Finn and Nacra 17, which will end on Sunday.
