The nautical photographer Alfred Farré has for the second time won the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image Award, the nautical audiovisual competition par excellence this year sought the photo of the century under the title Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image of Century.
There were 131 photographers with whom they considered their best photograph. From there would come the three best images: the jury, the public and the special.
Alfred Farré had already won the absolute with the considered best photograph of the year 2014, corresponding to an image of the Puig Vela Classica Barcelona. On this occasion he presented himself to the best photo of the century and presented one of the MiniMed 2009, a race of mines organized by the CN L'Cscale, in which the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees are perfectly mixed.
Finally, the maresmense photographer has taken the award awarded by the public, following an online vote in which more than 12,000 votes were counted; this is the first time a photographer has taken two awards in this outstanding photographic event. Farré was a collaborator of Yate magazine and is an official photographer of races, especially from the Catalan coast, such as the Christmas Race, the Palamós Optimist Trophy and the Salt Route, among others.
The jury award was for the French, Gilles Martin-Raget and his image of the Trimaran Orma 60 Fujifilm II, taken during the 2002 Course des Phares. This image shows the famous French navigator Loïck Peyron, in a very special stretch of water called "Le trou du diable," located south of the island of Ouessant, in Brittany. Since 1986, Martin-Raget has its headquarters in Marseille and regularly collaborates in the most prestigious sailing publications, as well as being the official photographer of several regatists and teams.
The special prize was for the British Dan Towers, with a mythical photo of Bernard Stamm taken in the Gulf of Vizcaya in the early hours of the Velux 5 Oceans 2006-2007 that left Bilbao.
